i'm sorry, but if you want a story, no. It's pretty much boils down to KOTA RUN IT UP IN ME, OH WAIT YOU WANT HER... WELL I'M GONNA ACT MOODY AND HAVE SHIT BLOW UP. While i actually did enjoy it for the wtf is happening, the ones listed above i believe are more story based. So if you want an amazing story the anime you want is!

TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN!
Gonna second this one, have seen other action oriented/story oriented animes and no others can top this one.

Based on the Anime's stated in the OP, I'd go with Toradora!, Seitokai Yakuindomo (on-going), School Rumble, Clannad and Pani Poni Dash. Maybe Spice & Wolf as well (incredible characterization and interaction), if a simultaneous medieval economics-focus as well doesn't sound too excruciating.

I'm also obligated by law [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Higurashi-no-Naku-Koro-ni] to recommend Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (also known under the misleadingly exploitastic title When They Cry) at any given chance. It has some comedic slice-of-life club moments, but is admittingly in essence a horror/mystery series.

If you want Slice of Life, then K-On! or Hidamari Sketch are good. You should put up a decent list of what you saw already so we don't repost though.

I really like how lots of people in this thread just post whatever anime they like best and ignore the OP's request for anime similar in the style of azumanga daioh, lucky star and Haruhi Suzumiya.

Of course this is not saying that all the suggestion are bad, since that's a matter of personal taste. But I think one should always be aware that personal tastes are different among people, and should always make his suggestion with the other person's taste in mind, a trait that's lacking among people in general.

To OP: Like many people in the thread said, K-On is probably the closest to lucky star and azumanga daioh. School Rumble is also decent and similar in style. As of Haruhi Suzumiya, it really depend on what part of it you like better (Personally I found the character annoying). If you like the director's style look for his other work (Clannad, Fushingi Yuuhi, Kanon) If you like the sci fi angle maybe To aru majitsu no idex. If you just like the style of light novel adaptation there's a whole bunch of anime out there for you to try (most of them not good in my opinion).

Well, I generally like a lot of different genres but here are some of my favs that would be kewl to check out.

Full Metal Alchemist (and brotherhood)
Soul Eater
Inu Yasha
Trigun
Ranma 1/2
Jungle Wa Itsu imo Hare nochi guu (aka Hale + Guu)
Fushigi Yugi
Kekkaishi (this one's new)
Detective Conan
Ruroni Kenshin
Card Captor Sakura
Chobits
Full Moon Wo Sagashite
Gravitation
Kaleido Star
Mai Hime (if you watch this do NOT watch the spin-off)
Onegai Sensei (Please Teacher)
Shakugan No Shana
This ugly yet Beautiful World

That's just a small list for now, I'll have to go and dig up my complete list and I'll get back to ya. A lot of these are really good and they cross all kinds of genres.

The original Pokemon series. Everyone loved the original Pokemon.
Everyone.
That or Digimon. Because everyone who loved Pokemon loved Digimon.
That's still everyone.

I don't like anime much, if you didn't guess.

hmm, I know of some of those anime's but I haven't watched them, but I know enough to know they're drama/comedies.

In which case, I suggest Fooly Cooly, it is incredibly insane and may melt your brain, but you will love it! Besides, it's only 6 episodes long, so it isn't much of a time commitment to watch it.

Doesn't exist... Anime sucks bigtime.
you just hate it because it isnt Call of duty and it isnt special enough to get an anime.
Yes because all anime is good and better than Call of Duty.

Oh wait, that makes no sense because they're too drastically different to be compared.

On topic, I would suggest Solty Rei. I'm not a fan of anime in general, I hate the animation style (Seriously, so many scenes with no animation besides mouth movement in ANY example), the overobsessive fan base (I can't watch an American version of an anime without being told "ur missin the point of the story man!" I didn't want Sakura AVALON to be a fucking lesbian with MADISON, I wanted her to fight monsters and capture them in the form of cards!) and the fact I have to read subtitles if a dub doesn't exist.

However, Solty Rei is one of the few animes that kept me well engaged throughout, especially because the main character is influenced quite heavily by John McClain from Die Hard. It's well told, well animated (When it wants to be, the talk scenes are still just mouth movement or repeated frames of animation) and it has a decent dub. Can't remember if it was fan dub or official dub, but it was a dub nonetheless.

Watch Welcome to The NHK. it's like the slice of life polar opposite of shows like Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star...
Also I have to recommend Serial Experiments Lain since it is the second coming of Jesus...
But I think any of my top 10 will suffice... I don't watch very much Slice of Life stuff...
1. Serial Experiments Lain
2. Elfen Lied
3. Ergo Proxy
4. FLCL
5. Welcome To The NHK
6. Blue Sub No. 6
7. Gundam the 08th MS Team
8. Paranoia Agent
9. Gungrave
10. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni(AKA When They Cry)

Don't really watch that style of anime often. But I'll always recommend Hunter x hunter to anybody when I'm out of idea's.
hehe, only ever read the manga of that... can be so unpredictable. double reccomendation here... but thats only if you (the OP) is considering broadening your field of anime.
Hunter X Hunter started a typical Shonen Manga where the guy wanted to be the best Hunter, to a Adventure in a Card Collecting VR Game, then a Cooking Battle, just to name a few settings.
Id say Unpredictable is an understatement.
XD
I need to start reading it.
iv only read a bit but i liked it.
ahem, yes, i do see you point. what i meant by unpredictable though was how he had this cute artstyle early on... then some guy who likes to tear peoples skin off came in and it got all gritty and gorey... then sort of inbetween the two styles... then he went through a really long period of not being too bothered/being rushed/something else i'm not aware of, drawing the bare mininum. then he went on Hiatus for about a Year, then drew for a couple of months (really well done work too) before going on another "i-don't-know-when-i'll-be-back" Hiatus.
i would get annoyed, but to be frank, i'm already getting worked up enough about Bleach and Naruto xD

I'd recomend Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni/Kai. It's a super cute anime that turns into a super dark anime! If you can stomach all the twee cuteness of it all, it gets pretty good. I watched with a friend who hates anime, and whenever he came round to hang out he'd want to watch it, which I think is a pretty good seal of approval, if that doesn't float your boat try Code Geass or the hysterical High School of the Dead, wait...you are over 18 right? That show is wrong in all the right ways!

Hahahahaha.
Like i said, i haven't followed it so i had no idea about that.
though i did hear about the Hiatus.
And i feel ya, im almost fed up with Naruto and its DARKNESS CRAWLING IN MY SKKIIIIINNNNNNN.
And if i did Love Bleach so much i might be angry with its Trolling.
Though, it has provided /a/ with some excellent Meme material.
Like The Heart and Kubo himself.

Haha, i actually love both Manga's deeply, and even though they don't seem to be as good as they used too, i am very fond of them both... i just like making jokes about them :D hahaha, the only Bleach Meme i've known is the leek spin... and i'm still unaware (and quite happy that i am) of this "/a/".

As for OP, slice of life isn't one of my preferred genres. You've already seen Azumanga which I think is the best in the genre. If you just want something with students in it, watch Highschool of the Dead.

haha, sweet anime, sweet manga. i love how the Author goes about it, not simply studying the psychology of "EVERYONES A ZOMBIE, BLAAAARRRGGGHHHH" but also going in depth as to why the characters are so Blarsey (i don't have a clue how to spell that word... so i spelt it how i say it) about many things. Plus the opening music totally rocks and is now my ringtone

I wont tell you about /a/ then but, ill show you some of the glorious Memes iv gotten from them.

oh my Gosh... those Gems are... of unknown Value... my favourite is the "Kurosaki-kun" one, because thats an inside Joke between me and my friends at school :p the Aizen one is awesome too though :D

Yeah, Naruto's been suddenly getting remarkably badass at an awesome rate, so i've quite enjoyed reading it. Bleach's most recent chapter was a dissapointment to me, but i'm hoping that it will make sense this coming chapter. 2 weeks ago was brilliant though... Gin ichimaru is my favourite character.
oddly enough, my favourite Manga is One Piece. i think its been consistently brilliant and the concept of it is simple, but has so much room for Genious. a lot of people are put of by Eichera Oda's ... odd sense of humour, but i've grown to really like it, finding myself laughing at his puns and ongoing gags (I read shaman king first, which was a nice lead up to his sense of humour)

If you don't like anime than that is great but there is no need to come into a thread and make fun of people who do. All that will do is cause people to report you which could get you into bigger trouble with the moderators.

On Topic: The show Ouran High School Host Club has comedy in it and has kinda the same style like Lucky Star. Chobits is a pretty good anime as well.
