Gears of War 2.
Half-Life 2.
Mass Effect 2.

There are plenty of examples. These two just seem to be the ones on my mind right now.

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no... and no.

I liked Gears of War 2 better than Gears 1... mostly because I could actually see more than 3 feet in front of me because someone decided to turn on a light or two. Sims 2 was also better than Sims 1... but Sims 3 was the worst. And I don't know if you can count this, but Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade was better than Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War. And Call of Duty: United Offensive was better than Call of Duty.

You can leave as well. Does this face look like it's joking to you? And you can take your box of cupcakes with you, as well. They had coconut on them and no where here likes coconut.

Star Fox 64. One of the best sequels on a Nintendo system and the best game in the entire series. I can still play that game for hours and I've had it since the year after it came out, it stays engaging that much.

What? go to jail! A Zelda game that has a set amount of time is not a proper Zelda game.
Oh please. Ocarina had the most dry and boring overworld of any Zelda game. Except maybe Twilight Princess.

Got to agree with you on that one. Ocarina may be the most lauded game in the series but everything it did was improved upon in every single way in Majora's Mask. The time limit was annoying at first but once you get used to it, it ends up being the most engaging and engrossing game in the series. I love Ocarina but I'll marry Majora's Mask, it's that great.

not really the environments were pretty varied from area to area and there was enough extra material to make you (or at least Me) explore every inch I could trying to find every last little secret I could and yes Majora's Mask had a wonderful welcoming world ripe for adventure, too bad you didnt have any goddamn time to spend exploring it.

I hate to break it to you guys, but Final Fantasy games and Zelda games are not technically sequels. They are more like Spirit successors. So I don't think they really count.

A sequel is something that continues the the story of the previous game.

Half-Life 2
Halo 3
Fable 2
BioShock 2
Uncharted 2
Assassins Creed 2

and many more are sequel.

Final Fanatsy VII to VIII is not sequels because the two game have nothing to do with each other. Now FF X to X-2 is a real sequel.

Sequels that are better than the original? Too many to name really, but some of them are arguable.

Like FEAR 1 to FEAR 2. That's about 50-50 on fan opinion.

I shall. Both here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.166918-Professor-Layton-Reviews-Battlefield-Bad-Company#4448703] and here. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.188706-Professor-Layton-Reviews-Battlefield-Bad-Company-2#5820392] Honestly, Bad Company 2 was great and I really enjoyed it, it's just that Bad Company was really where Battlefield went over into a true single-player campaign. It was really a different type of FPS with a fun lightness of tone and a couple of jokes here and there that set it apart. Bad Company 2 on the other hand decided to say "screw it" with the single player and just focus on the multiplayer again. Which isn't a bad thing, because I love the multiplayer! I was just playing it earlier today! But compared to the first, it was just another brown FPS. All the character's seemed to have their personalities drained and there were tons of continuity errors.

Also, Left 4 Dead 2 was great, yes, but Left 4 Dead 1 was better with pacing and creating really epic scenarios. Sure, they were a lot more varied in Left 4 Dead 2, but the plane crash at the end of Dead Air was spectacular and you really don't see those types of moments in the sequel. Halo 3 was terrible compared to Halo 2 which was my personal favorite of the series and the multiplayer couldn't even hold a candle to it. Call of Duty 2 and 4 were completely different engines and screwed the idea that the first one had that set it apart of having you, the main character, not being the most important person of the squad and trying not to be a one man army type game. Instead, 2 and 4 went on to being one man army type games. And don't even get me started on the multiplayer. And I've already expressed my opinions on Bad Company.

An old one, But I would say Myth 2: Soulblighter. Also Max Payne 2, Warcraft 2, Hitman 2, No one lives Forever 2, Thief 2. Yes they are older games and they will stay with me forever because that's what i grew up with. I also have many others but I those are the ones that i can see the boxes of at the moment.
