I seem to be falling into all the same types of games at the moment, they are all 3rd person shooters or Action/Adventure
AC2, Uncharted, InFamous, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Prototype, Batman: AA, Saints Row 2, GTA 4, and Just Cause 2
God damn they are all awesome and all 3rd person, most of them open world aswell.
It seems to be a growing trend, I for one am loving it, does anyone have any other suggestions of games like this?
Going by what I have tried already how can I go wrong with anything else similar to these.
So any suggestions?

Edit: Devil May Cry 4 is also another game I have started playing recently
Edit2: Oh and Crackdown too.

Yeah, I considered Dark Sector, I will have to do some research on it first though.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Third person trumps first person. First person games mess with my head, and limit my field of vision in the game, which gives me headaches. Perspective is also all messed up. Like, when you're holding a gun 'at your side', you can see it in front of your face... taking up like, half the screen. That's not at your side! Surely you'd see it in front of your face, yes, but only barely. Didn't Yahtzee say that first person perspective was basically like having two VCR's taped to the side of your head? And that the third person perspective was actually more accurate as to what the human eye can ACTUALLY perceive? I agree with him.

If you want to go old school, the first Mercenaries for PS2 and Xbox was probably my favorite Third Person Shooter that hasn't been listed here.

Grand Theft Auto and all it's clones are also third person, I recommend Saint's Row 2.

I would, but it's already listed.

Crackdown is the best mindless fun game I have ever played. And if you like that, the sequel is coming out pretty damn soon.

Oblivion, Fallout 3
They are both FIRST person games, that have added third-person cameras, yet the third-person cameras in those games are both horrible, fallout 3 slightly less so than Oblivion.

I have played ResE 4, but I heard ResE 5 was no good unless you play co-op cuz the AI 2nd player is hopeless.

Yeah, I can see my entire backside and everything within a few feet of me right now!!!!!!

That's the same lame response I get from my friend, Levi. -.-
Now, you KNOW that's not what I meant.

That's obviously not what he meant. Pretend, in a third-person shooter, you're the camera. The vision you have is now more accurate to real-life than a first-person game where you have literally no peripheral vision.

OT: Torchlight. Not a shooter, but still third-person and very fun.

Yeah, I have played dead space, Oblivion and Fallout, none really appeal to me too much.
I really wish Assassins Creed 1 was not so repetitve, that way I would have another game I could get really get into.

Yes my thoughts exactly, however at the moment I am obssesed with Borderlands, but besides that it has to be really good to grab my attention as a first person shooter. COD4 MW did a good job of that aswell.

I just realised that I have only got 4 games on PS3 with the Platinum Trophy and they are all 3rd person (InFamous, Uncharted 1 & 2 and Assassins Creed 2)

I enjoy third person games because I can actually see out of the corners of my characters eyes, also, they tend to require less bullshit detail on guns because you don't spend half of the game staring at them, so maybe all of the left over money goes into story and gameplay?

No, but there's no way Third Person is more realistic. FPS is much more realistic.
You go outside and tell me if you need to slowly turn left and right to see what's beside you.

FPS games are not realistic, they are quite annoying. I hate clunkily turning around trying to figure out what's going on because my character has terrible eyesight from wanking too much.

First person to me, practically seems like a fish eye lens half the time. Third person games give you the wideness in FRONT of you that is more accurate than a first person shooter - even if the third person game goes behind you and all that other jazz. I'm saying that for one, in real life you don't have to turn your entire freaking body to look 4 inches to the left.

Now I'm a camera! Also, may I point out that the main character uses that vision? So, now the main character can see his backside! And we're back where we started.
Dude. Seriously. Stop being dense. You, the person, NOT THE FRIGGIN CHARACTER YOU ARE CONTROLLING, would have the vision of the CAMERA, IF YOU WERE STANDING BEHIND THE MAIN CHARACTER.

It's not a hard concept, and yes, caps are completely necessary.

Yeah, but think how hard it would be to control your eyes in an FPS. I always get more immersed in an FPS.
No, I understand where you're coming from. I have often pointed out to my friends that even though I ***** about the whole, no ability to move your eyes thing, it'd be so freaking hard to do, I wouldn't even want it. And FPS's are generally the ones that people get more immersed in. That's not the case with me, but I'm weird. Lol.

Have you not played Red Dead Redemption yet? Not perfect, but a pretty dang good game. Highly recommended, especially considering you seem to like the third-person open-world style.

Though I also recommend some older classics such as Beyond Good and Evil and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. And Okami. Not open-world, but without a doubt some of the finest action/adventure games ever made.

Yes, but the fact that you can see what it right next to your feet without actually looking towards the ground, it may be more immersive being in FPS but it is much more realistic to the player to be in 3rd person. Like Manhattan2112 said, I dont want to have to turn my entire body to look 4 inches to the left.

Haha, yet another series I forgot, I have played PoP of course, they are excenllent games especially Two Thrones ie Rival Swords I thought was the best.
Also have played the Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy Series aswell, which I forgot to mention too. They are good harmless fun. Still have to play Galaxy 2 though.

I have Red Dead Redemption on order from yesterday I ordered it, should be good according to the reviews I have seen.
