I seem to be falling into all the same types of games at the moment, they are all 3rd person shooters or Action/Adventure
AC2, Uncharted, InFamous, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Prototype, Batman: AA, Saints Row 2, GTA 4, and Just Cause 2
God damn they are all awesome and all 3rd person, most of them open world aswell.
It seems to be a growing trend, I for one am loving it, does anyone have any other suggestions of games like this?
Going by what I have tried already how can I go wrong with anything else similar to these.
So any suggestions?

Edit: Devil May Cry 4 is also another game I have started playing recently
Edit2: Oh and Crackdown too.

Shadow of the Colossus.........yeah...............and Bayonetta.

I don't really like it that much, honestly. I really don't like shooters unless their first person, (I've played Gears and others, wasn't a huge fan), and actually I'm not a huge fan of action games in general. If its going to be third person, I'd prefer it to be either platform(like the old N64 classics, Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie) or Adventure/RPG(Zelda, Final Fantasy).

Actually, I'm going to take back what I just said a little.

I'm not a huge SINGLE-player action game player. I'll play action games if its against other people.

Yeah, I considered Dark Sector, I will have to do some research on it first though.
Thanks for the suggestion.
dark sector gets alot of hate for some reason but I found it quite enjoyable, I guess if I paid full price for it I might not have as much but since its like ten bucks now its well worth that

Yeah, I have played Shadow of the Colossus, talk about awesome.
As for Bayonetta, I never wanted to buy it cuz they said it was shit on PS3 but good on 360, however I recently bought a 360 so now I will consider it.

It's not that bad, it's just the saving/loading takes a little while to pop up.

They said that there was also issues with the Graphics and Frame Rate, in fact a game review show we have here in Australia reviewed the game on different platforms, they said they had to give different scores depending the console, which they never do in anyother case, so it must of been serious. Apparantly it is because the game was originally a 360 exclusive then ported to PS3 but not ported very well obviously.
They gave it a 8.5/10 on 360 and a 6.5/10 on PS3. I was shocked.

I wouldn't really classify Mass Effect as open world. Yeah, you can walk left or right, but there's no exploration at all and the maps are extremely linear.

Third person trumps first person. First person games mess with my head, and limit my field of vision in the game, which gives me headaches. Perspective is also all messed up. Like, when you're holding a gun 'at your side', you can see it in front of your face... taking up like, half the screen. That's not at your side! Surely you'd see it in front of your face, yes, but only barely. Didn't Yahtzee say that first person perspective was basically like having two VCR's taped to the side of your head? And that the third person perspective was actually more accurate as to what the human eye can ACTUALLY perceive? I agree with him.
That's more opinion though, I find that in a lot of third person games it's kind of 'clunky'. I don't know if that's the right word, it's just difficult to get used to my characters movements. I guess more games should do what fallout 3 did and have a button to change from 3rd to 1st person, that was a good idea.

Didn't notice it much. It was similar to Heavy Rain..................except all the rain.

Max Payne, the ultimate 3rd person action extravaganza!

Also get Mafia, it's occasionally frustrating but the atmosphere is great...or that might be my nostalgia talking.

Nah, I think you are right, my friend is always talking about Mafia and Max Payne for that matter.

Yeah, but think how hard it would be to control your eyes in an FPS. I always get more immersed in an FPS.

The default FoV in most first person games is usually 70-75 degrees. A person with decent eyesight has a FoV of around 200 degrees, nearly triple that even without the moving your eyes.

I never said that Mass Effect was open world, I said that most of them (ie the games i listed) were open world, Gears of War isn't open world either.

Did you try playing Assassin's Creed 2? it is extremely smooth running, not clunky at all.

They should make a 3rd person sandbox AVP game! That would be sick.
Just to be a predator and roam a city while hunting down aliens (and humans, just because you can)
