Nintendo is bringing out a heart Monitor attachment for the Wiimote Can I ask why? What are they going to think of next an IV? Defibrillator? Bedpan?

They seem to have taken it upon themselves to be the world's personal fitness trainers. It's a bit...odd

Not that odd, considering the role of "World's personal fitness trainer" is apparently a very well paid position :p

I made a fuss about it at first, until someone high into the WiiFit game fanaticism told me it was for the Wii fitness aspect. Old and Fat-assed working out, alike, need to know when they're about to keel over and die. After all, we don't want people playing the Wii to go the way of that one Korean kid and his MMORPG.

On the by, I opt for a Wii Beerhat. One that tells me when I need a refill. Or, better yet, refills it for me.

Are we talking about that thing that measures your pulse?

Yeah. Retarded. Right up there with DJ Hero.

Well... I have to measure my blood pre... Oh, wait, it's just pulse?

Two fingers on your neck + 10 seconds + count how many pulses you feel + multiply times 6 = blood pulse.

OH WOW THAT'S SO HARD I NEED SOMETHING TO DO IT FOR ME.

I understand those pulse measuring devices, but something related to games will never measure it accurately. And it's a waste of time/money/both.

Am I the only one who suspects that in about ten years, Nintendo will be a company that sells exercise bikes and fitness videos?
I mean they did go from manufacturing playing cards to developing videogames, who's to say they won't switch their focus again?
Okay, in all seriousness this seems to be taking Nintendo's recent fitness craze a tad too far, but then, I thought Wii fit was a silly idea, and look what that got them...lots and lots of money.
So, maybe it's not as stupid an idea as it sounds?

Makes sense for Wii Fit and I'm sure they could use it in horror games for a great effect.

This is something where if any other company announced it, I'd run a mile but seeing as this is Nintendo I'm really not sure what to think. A bunch of mini-games based around your heart rate would be a nice idea to help people who have trouble relaxing and if they marketed it right with that in mind (hellooooooooooo big business execs) then I expect it to sell by the shed load. Also, as gigastrike said, using it in a horror game would also work (Eternal Darkness 2 we can hope and prey)

Am I the only one who thinks they should make a sniper game that can use this? It was my first thought upon seeing the thread title.

that would be interesting... a game that responds to your lowered pulserate by making the game more exciting...

interesting, but very creepy.

An IV would be a very cool idea...
No more having to eat!
Excellent.
But... IVs go straight into your veins, don't they? I'd rather not have undigested greases and fats going straight into my blood.

Remember that most of their feedback is likely to come from Japan, and God only knows what in the hell is the current craze over there. Based on evidence though, it seems to be fitness.

I'm kind of mad about this. The Wii had some good titles for people who actually like games in the first 2 years of it's launch. Now it's just a workout machine.
