There's never a way to end a thread like that unless there is only one single answer

But it is a good way to see who believes that their opinion is the universal one

I suppose, yeah. I must say I was mightily (mighty?) impressed how far we got in this before someone actually did a non tongue in cheek /thread. Nice to see so many people giving intellegent opinions without resorting to an easy reply that takes no thought. Well, most of you, anyway...

Huh. I've been in this forum for over a year, even have the Regular badge, but not until now do I understand what /thread means. I though it was another way of saying "This."

It's kind of used as a joke more than not, sort of a forum meme, let's say the topic is best music video ever, It would be humorous if I put Never Gonna Give You then /thread. It's saying this is the defining symbol of such and such, accept it and shut up. But when It Is used In conjuction with a legitimate argument, like If I said Land Of Confusion, you're right, it is arrogant, while my point would have some validity, saying /thread instead of, the social commentary is deep, or the visuals are amazing, I am being a bit of an ass.

Sorry to rant, It's just that In most cases, from what I've seen, its a joke.

An argument can carry on despite one or more definitive answers having been reached by one or both sides.
I've seen plenty of /threads that I've agreed with entirely, with all further posts adding nothing to shift my views or even reconsider my stance.

Piracy threads for example.
Topic: Is piracy bad if you would never have bought the game?

Response: If you didn't want to buy it you don't need to download it. If you can't afford it, find a cheaper form of entertainment, or save up.

In my eyes that deserves a /thread. Piracy advocates may try to argue that point all they want but I honestly think that the aforementioned answer covers any attempts at rebuttal.
Maybe it is arrogant, but this site is full of arrogant people so please forgive me this one indulgence.
