So with only a few months from release I've looked into how the new Bioshock is shaping up, and personally it seems pretty good. Here's what is to be expected.

It is set 10 years after the original game, with a Sonia Lamb in charge of Rapture. Who has created Big Sisters to kidnap little girl from villages on the surface so she can produce ADAM. The Big Sisters are Big Daddy/Little Sister hybrids, therefore boasting massive strength, speed and a harvesting needle. You play as the first Big Daddy who starts the game with the best plot device ever, amnesia! You go on a quest to find the Little Sister that you was originally paired with. Eventually you team up with Tenenbaum and the old CEO of a plasmid company. The rest of the plot is under wraps at the moment.

Anyway you play as the first Big Daddy, meaning you can use the drill and rivet gun!
You can still rescue or harvest Little Sisters, which will still need to be won by defeating other Big Daddies. Another option is to adopt the Little Sister, meaning you guide her about and she will harvest corpses for ADAM.(Much like in the Proving Grounds in the first game.)
You should also be able to go underwater as you're in a diving suit, and walk along the ocean floor.

There are also some other new features:
<a href=http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/bioshock-2-multiplayer-trailer-1>Multiplayer-trailer of a multiplayer mode 'Capture The Sister'
Upgrade trees
Dual wielding of Plasmid and Weapon [http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/bioshock-2s-electric-hand]-video in link explains
AND!
Health regeneration...all good except that I think!

Anyway I've rabbled enough what do you think so far?

EDIT: Sorry thought I'd add this <a href=http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/bioshock-2-single-player-trailer>trailer as it shows the look of gameplay and the weapons(including the rivet gun and drill)

EDIT 2: I should also point out that you will get unplanned and random attacks by Big Sisters, usually to take your Little Sister and the only indication of one approaching is to hear the Little Sister sing "Mr. B, Mr. B, Big Sister doesn't want you playing with me..." Also added a tiny bit to the story.

Didn't we rescue or kill all the little sisters? I mean it was a major part of the game. Hell I'm fairly sure all of Rapture was killed or driven insane via mind control.

I know that I'm not the only one that hates the idea of playing as a Big Daddy. It sort of... ruins the whole idea of the first game. It doesn't make any sense. Of course I'm still getting it so I can continue the story but playing as a Big Daddy means you're less vulnerable, less tense, less sense. Also, regenerating health only makes sense. It's better than Vita-Chambers, I tell you what.

I don't know why.... but I have a feeling in my Gamer bones, that this will suck, or atleast be no where near as good as the first one...

You can quote me on that when the reviews come in...

It is still filled with splicers, haven't heard of any normal humans to fight yet.

Nah! The game will be great because of the guy working on it, he designed the fort frolic level in bioshock 1 and the best level in thief 2 called 'the cradle' (or was it thief 3, cant remember)

I Stick by my opinion...

I just see too many signs... all show Shit.

And I LOVED Bioshock 1 just as a "FYI"

Less vulnerable? Maybe, but you are still being chased by the Big sister and she's indestructible!*

*exaggeration

Yeah, we did. But as the plot says, Ms. Lamb is, through the use of Big Sisters, kidnapping little girls from towns on the Atlantic Coast to create new Little Sisters.

Well since this is ten years previous to bioshock, that means none that we killed in 1 are dead. Also, they are recruiting more from the surface, remember?

I'm going to wait for the reviews for this one. I loved Bioshock, but I'm not sure about playing as a Big Daddy. I mean, the atmosphere in the first game was tense and scary, and a Big Daddy isn't all that weaksauce, which I think will alter the magnificent atmosphere from the original.

Hrmm..this really convinces me to try Bioshock 1 to gather my opinion, but I guess judging by what I see, I like playing the 'beast' bit against other beasts, so I'm already kind of drooling at the fact that you play one of the monsters..

..but, since I don't know the plot, I'll play the first one to get a feel and see if me drooling on my laptop wasn't in vane...

In the first one, we didn't get to go into the entirety of Rapture.

The search bar only showed threads relating to box art and special editions and such, couldn't see any with gameplay information.

No, actually. You are now an obsolete tool in Rapture which seems to have been given an upgrade. You are in the prototypes stage while everyone else is 4.0. In the first game you were a god among men. Genetically and physically advanced and Rapture was you screaming little *****, plaything, and toy to play with. So taking a step back you will see that the Original (or prototype) big daddy would be more vulnerable than being Jack in the first game.

Wow, the random attacks sound interesting, a new way to keep you on your toes.
