No camping in Battlefied? Please, it was easily all over the place in the BF beta. Snipers always proning in long hallways or in bushes.

It probably won't be as bad once we get more maps that include vehicles (although we'll never know until release since the beta HAD no vehicles...), especially since I think the recon class doesn't get the mortar strike anymore (I think that's the case at least.) but the beta had camping in full force.

I understand now, I am so sorry.
That 25-killstreak I got by camping with a sniper in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 should newer have been unleashed onto the other team.

For now on and till the end of time I will always pick the weapon with the highest fireing rate and run-and-gun in the same fashion as a six year old that was given shots of pure sugar into his blood stream.
I'm glad we had this talk. :)

In general, BF players are either silent or helpful. There's a lot less rage than on CoD, though a part of that might be how many people you can hear at a given moment.
I have trouble attributing the rage to COD, since it's been persistent pretty much every shooter I've been on. Though COD does seem to be the most popular shooter with homophobes waiting for puberty to drop their voice, so maybe there is a nice little cluster of 'em there.

i dont consider it camping in Battlefield since the game doesn't allow "camping" so much as it does allow more correct battlefield tactics such as snipers takeing perches and what not, after all, battlefield kill death ratio on average 'campers' isn't high enough to help them.

Camper: someone who sits in a tactically unhelpful position with the sole intention of getting kills and without the intention of Playing The Fucking Objective (PTFO). These people will happily let a charge explode/get defused as long as they can keep padding their K/D.

Defender: someone who lurks in a tactically helpful position with the intention of furthering the team's chances of winning. Objectives first, kills second. If the crate is armed, these guys jump in it to defuse, and not afraid to take deaths by doing so, and are thus Play The Fucking Objective. These people play for the W/L, not K/D. Notice the difference.

I fail to see how 'rushers' are ruining the game. At least they're moving outside their spawn. Just grab a medic kit and revive those guys to keep your tickets up. Individual skill/skill of the other team determines how fast the team dies to the enemy. Maybe instead of complaining about people actually trying to play the game, you should go help them out. Grab a medic kit or grab some smoke grenades and give those guys some support. Hell you can still be a wookie if you want, just chuck motion sensors out in front of your guys to help them find enemy defenders/campers.

You can run-n-gun in BF, you just have to do it on the right maps and be smart about it. Obviously charging out in the middle of the desert is going to get you killed, but with correct map knowledge + gun skill/technique, you can run around blasting fools and playing the objective/going for the win.

Yeah, the nice thing about BF3 is probably the fact that they get rid of campers the same way you get rid of them in real life: air strikes.
Air strikes are so impractical.

Just use an air to face RPG.

Also: I like DeStorm, guy is pretty cool, has nice view on the life (watched his videos a while ago) and he has talent, what else to say.

I don't see anything wrong with what he did in rounds 1 and 3. He gained the high ground which would give him a better vantage point and make it easier to get kills. That's a legitimate strategy.
Exactly.
Staying in the same area doesn't constitute camping IMO. Camping, to me, is more of staring at a doorway indoors with a shotgun holding down the ADS button. Very little skill involved, and hard to counter without dying to it once or twice.

Also, why is this song about Battlefield 3? There was more camping in the Beta than there was in most any other game I've played.

That's a nice song. I usually dealt with campers by blowing up the wall they were using as cover back in Bad Company 1. Hopefully this game can be the same!

I think it would have been funny if the singer got shot as he was walking away. Standing out in the middle of the battlefield singing probably isn't the best tactic. Just saying.

I'm still going to play as a sniper.

In the Beta, it was easy to camp. The first map was tiny. When they did Caspian Border though, it became a bit harder to spawn camp, because the map was huge. And the Moderators had the intelligence to warn or kick for base camping. It's easy to camp on CoD because the maps are tiny and everyone runs around like idiots. In BF, historically anyway, camping doesn't always pay off, at least in my experience. But, since it's squad based... for a long time now... you are supposed to Spawn on a squad member and actually try to accomplish something.

I've used the recon class, I've both sat back and rushed. Both worked just as well. However people sitting back and "camping" need to learn to spot people. If you're just going for kills you might as well point out where people are as well so that the rest of your team can have an idea of where they need to go and who to shoot as well.

If people did that in the beta I think matches would've gone a very different way.

In BFBC2 I used to annoy the enemy team and get accused of being a camper. I would go from the 3 points and capture them while trying to avoid enemy contact. usualy away from the rest of my team. if a tank rolled into the zone i would camp out because i usualy didnt have anything to destroy the tank. they couldnt capture it and since i was hiding and they didnt know where i was they would get frustrated and move on or someone on foot would root me out after a few minutes of them cussing at me. I loved it. in an objective based game someone camps the objective to defend it I dont see theres a problem. its how the game should be played. you want to run and gun for a K/D ratio then play TDM. objective based includes camping.

but I never chilled out and not work objectives, to me the objectives was capture as many points as possible and not run and gun for the kills. thats what TDM and DM are for.

When did being a sniper become equated to hiding out near a spawn point?
What a bunch of whiners.

Running and gunning is for idiots who want to be dead.

It's hilarious that they say 'this is a camper, this is bad!' while showing as opposition to him a guy running around at full sprint shooting people left and right, which is an strategy that will get you killed in any BF game before you can even say OMGHAX.

Sniping is for people who utterly loathe the idea of teamwork.

OT:

Very funny song, the guy did a good job.
