A politically correct Easter?

Seriously, why do people care so much about this? I mean, yes, it's stupid, that's pretty self-evident, well done for working that out you guys. But plenty of people do stupid things all the time.
My objection to this would be, if any, that it gives PC-haters something else to gripe and groan about. "Oh, it's political correctness gone mad" they tell us "plotical correctness is so opressive and is destroying our country" and act as thought acts of stupidity like this are the norm in politically correct circles, as oppossed to a freakish outlier.
Seriously, why do people get so uppity about names? Insisting that they be called Easter Eggs and nothing else is just as idiotic as insisting they be called Spring Spheres. Honestly, I can't be bothered to put in enough effort to care about this.

According to that video, nobody knew anything about it except the one person claiming they were forced to rename it. Sounds fishy.

Anyway, as mentioned, Easter has nothing to do with christianity. It's just another spring festival, nominally co-opted by Christians, yes, but they've only gone and added hot cross buns to the same stuff people were doing beforehand.
It's more than nominal. While the Eastern Orthodox church is probably closer on the correct date to celebrate it, Easter is the holiest of all Christian holidays. Just because the early Catholic church switched the date to coincide with a pagan fertility festival doesn't mean that it isn't a Christian holiday.

OT: I find it funny that they picked Easter Eggs to secularize, of all things. As someone else mentioned, Easter Eggs are a pagan tradition, and are completely secular within the context of Christian Easter celebrations. It would be like changing Frosty the Snowman's name because it's too Christmassy.

Also, an egg isn't a sphere, so the name "spring sphere" is technically incorrect. >_>

But really, Spring Sphere?
Not any dumber than "Freedom Fries". I've never been big on PC, though. As I see it, it is what it is. Broken slang should not be Ebonics (I shudder at that one every time), little people should not be called "vertically challenged, I'm half black, and am for some reason bothered when people say "African American" since I'm not African, and I don't think anyone in my family presently living (or for the last 200 years at least) hails from Africa.

I don't understand, but I speculate that this is all a by-product of people suing the shit out of everyone for all kinds of ridiculous reasons. Before you know it trans-fat will be arterially restrictive additive, deserts will be "aquatically challenged landscapes", and garbage men will be waste disposal specialists (though that last one kinda makes their job sound cooler than it really is).

How fortunate that despite these moments of.... "intellectual forfeiture"... are not reflective of most of society. I just hope people don't program this nonsense into their kids, or this will become way too commonplace before too long.

Sorry, but Easter is a religious holiday, period. Just because someone decided to include bunnies and chocolate (and chocolate bunnies) doesn't mean you get to re-invent the thing. It's Easter Sunday, it's Easter eggs, and Jesus Christ is back in action! You can't have the holiday without it, just the candy.

Spring Spheres?
Is it me or does that sound like the plot MacGuffin for a bad RPG or Anime?

OT:
Why are people banging on about "Political Correctness" now?
I don't think people were harping on about it 10-20 years ago (or atleast I sure as hell hope not) so why the hell are we starting now?

Well, I generally approve of anything that helps move the US away from being overbearingly Christian, but really, there are better ways to do it.

It's gone completely mad. Spring holiday. Saying happy holidays instead of merry christmas. If they keep doing this I'll start killing hostages.
Well, happy holidays can include Hannukha, which falls around the whole period of decorations, vacations and shopping. And there are certainly enough Jews around where I live to warrant the inclusion. Kwanza too, but I think that holiday was deliberately placed around Christmas.

But ffs, the easter bunny is as Christian as the bunnies over at Hefner's place.

Happy EASTER. I opened my EASTER basket this morning and found it full of EASTER chocolate that the EASTER bunny had left for me inside of EASTER eggs. I'm gonna be going to my Aunt's for an EASTER get-together with my family. I hope that everyone here had a lovely EASTER.

I love EASTER EGGS, but I have no idea what the hell "Spring Spheres" are...

Happy spring holidays to you as well! I love my non-denomination celebrations of the spring season.

If you celebrate it just for the eggs then your basicaly mooching off our religious holiday.
Or you could just count it as two completely separate holidays that happen at the same time because they were the same thing way back when. Like Christmas and Christmas.

OT: Yeah, no one cares. Like 1 person in an entire group normally comes up with this sort of thing and no one pays attention.

Eggs aren't even spherical. fail. Besides, easter eggs have nothing whatsoever to do with the Christian meaning of easter anyway.
