Sorry, but Easter is a religious holiday, period. Just because someone decided to include bunnies and chocolate (and chocolate bunnies) doesn't mean you get to re-invent the thing. It's Easter Sunday, it's Easter eggs, and Jesus Christ is back in action! You can't have the holiday without it, just the candy.

Spring Spheres?
Is it me or does that sound like the plot MacGuffin for a bad RPG or Anime?

OT:
Why are people banging on about "Political Correctness" now?
I don't think people were harping on about it 10-20 years ago (or atleast I sure as hell hope not) so why the hell are we starting now?

Well, I generally approve of anything that helps move the US away from being overbearingly Christian, but really, there are better ways to do it.

It's gone completely mad. Spring holiday. Saying happy holidays instead of merry christmas. If they keep doing this I'll start killing hostages.
Well, happy holidays can include Hannukha, which falls around the whole period of decorations, vacations and shopping. And there are certainly enough Jews around where I live to warrant the inclusion. Kwanza too, but I think that holiday was deliberately placed around Christmas.

But ffs, the easter bunny is as Christian as the bunnies over at Hefner's place.

Happy EASTER. I opened my EASTER basket this morning and found it full of EASTER chocolate that the EASTER bunny had left for me inside of EASTER eggs. I'm gonna be going to my Aunt's for an EASTER get-together with my family. I hope that everyone here had a lovely EASTER.

I love EASTER EGGS, but I have no idea what the hell "Spring Spheres" are...

Happy spring holidays to you as well! I love my non-denomination celebrations of the spring season.

If you celebrate it just for the eggs then your basicaly mooching off our religious holiday.
Or you could just count it as two completely separate holidays that happen at the same time because they were the same thing way back when. Like Christmas and Christmas.

OT: Yeah, no one cares. Like 1 person in an entire group normally comes up with this sort of thing and no one pays attention.

Eggs aren't even spherical. fail. Besides, easter eggs have nothing whatsoever to do with the Christian meaning of easter anyway.

As I went to see what today's news was on Aol.com, I saw something... interesting.
http://www.aolnews.com/2011/04/16/spring-spheres-easter-eggs-get-politically-correct-video/

Basically, a school is trying to make Easter eggs hunts politically correct by calling easter eggs "spring spheres". At first, I thought this was some sort of elaborate joke just to take a stab at how ridiculous political correctness can be, but no.
This is a serious thing.

Is it really that important to change the name of Easter Eggs to Spring Spheres? If you don't celebrate the religious side of Easter, that's cool. I know a lot of people who throw Easter Egg hunts for kids but don't celebrate the religious side of the holiday.

Also, an egg isn't a sphere, so the name "spring sphere" is technically incorrect. >_>

But really, Spring Sphere?
Hmmmm, my bullshit detectors are tingling...

Yup, like nearly all 'political correctness gone mad' examples, this story is made up.

Because we're a different generation? Most of us are 16-26 and now that we can actually speak up since we're not busy crapping ourselves and taking naps, we're calling out PC because we think it's a bunch of bullshit. The Political Correctness is just getting out of hand at this point. You know that it's starting to get out of hand when you've got schools and book publishing companies trying to censor Huckleberry Finn.

OT: My opinion has been said by so many others in this thread, it would be pointless to re-iterate.

I don't really find it that all important to rename it and I'm not a christian so I just sort of think it as a holiday that Christians renamed themselves like Christmas (Winter Solstice), although perhaps if I were a Muslim or a Jew or a Hindu I would want for the holiday to no longer be associated with Christianity so that people of my religion could share in on the fun without betraying their god(s)/beliefs...

Wow spring spheres......What eggcatly do easter eggs have to do with religion?
Nothing at all, actually, unless of course you're an early pagan. In which case they're some kind of fertility symbol I think.

I really wish that non-Christians would stop celebrating our holidays and then try and change them to be PC.

This is why I get so annoyed about political correctness. They take my sacred holiday (Easter, Passover, Christmas, ect) and try and make it into another generic holiday with all the meaning taken out.

Let us pray "Lord, why must we suffer these idiots that keep trying to take away our sacred holidays. We pray Lord, give us strength and the wisdom to show them, in a peaceful way, that it is not right to take away our holidays and turn them into something they are not. In your Son's holy name, we pray, Amen".

Why not just call them Spring Eggs.

The egg part of Easter Egg isn't even related to the non-PC part of it (unless you consider St Peter a rabbit).

I think it is all of that which is killing America, and more, but I will not bore yall with the details. Political Correctness is killing free speech, the lack of free speech is killing free thought, lack of free thought is turning us into drones that must buy the latest crap because the corporations tell us too. And that is how PC is responsible for the debt.

You might think I am joking, But I am quite serious. PC is not the only thing killing America but it is 15% of it.
