Said with such conviction it almost seems like you thought of it yourself. Almost. Political correctness is a good thing. It helps to put women on the same level playing field as men, blacks on the same level as whites, etc. etc.

Stupid, barely-even-there-because-no-one-other-than-ultra-conservatives-who-like-to-*****-about-everything political correctness is, at worst, throwaway, and marginally funny.

Just because people spout the stupid fucking phrase that is, "political correctness is killing this country" doesn't mean its a logical one or true.

I really wish that non-Christians would stop celebrating our holidays and then try and change them to be PC.

This is why I get so annoyed about political correctness. They take my sacred holiday (Easter, Passover, Christmas, ect) and try and make it into another generic holiday with all the meaning taken out.

Let us pray "Lord, why must we suffer these idiots that keep trying to take away our sacred holidays. We pray Lord, give us strength and the wisdom to show them, in a peaceful way, that it is not right to take away our holidays and turn them into something they are not. In your Son's holy name, we pray, Amen".
Considering Easter and Christmas essentially have developed secular equivalents with the same name, the side that views them as simply national holidays could rename them to what they want whilst you continue calling them whatever you want. I.e. Non-issue.

Oh, and the story is probably fake: http://www.thefrisky.com/post/246-spring-spheres-instead-of-easter-eggs-not-so-fast/

Well, I generally approve of anything that helps move the US away from being overbearingly Christian, but really, there are better ways to do it.
Agreed. Maybe if we're lucky we can keep the whole "Easter" day and such for future generations, but completely remove the religious aspect to it but at least inform people of the idea behind the day and the like, just like how "Goodbye" used to be "God be with you," it has absolutely no religious meaning to it now but we at least should remember where it came from.

Though I won't be surprised if I get flamed for these ideas.

Geez, why are we all so uppity about this? Obviouslly someone thought, "This offends me/might offend someone else, so I'll change it,". It's not like we all have to say it, just let it go, it doesn't matter.

This makes sense, considering that Saint Peter was actually a rabbit, making the easter bunny side of the holiday incredibly religious.
Similar to how Christmas Break became Holiday Break and the such.

At one point it was PC for Santa Clause to say 'Ha Ha Ha' instead of 'Ho Ho Ho'.
Political Correctness is one big joke, and anyone who didn't realise that is a tool.

"The religiously non-denominational spring festival of chocolate egg hunting"
I don't really find it that all important to rename it and I'm not a christian so I just sort of think it as a holiday that Christians renamed themselves like Christmas (Winter Solstice), although perhaps if I were a Muslim or a Jew or a Hindu I would want for the holiday to no longer be associated with Christianity so that people of my religion could share in on the fun without betraying their god(s)/beliefs...

Really? I thought it was the trillions in bone-crushing debt... Or perhaps the two party system... and then there are all of the other factors....
I think it is all of that which is killing America, and more, but I will not bore yall with the details. Political Correctness is killing free speech, the lack of free speech is killing free thought, lack of free thought is turning us into drones that must buy the latest crap because the corporations tell us too. And that is how PC is responsible for the debt.

You might think I am joking, But I am quite serious. PC is not the only thing killing America but it is 15% of it.
It all makes perfect sense now! The not-being-a-racist/sexist/whateverist-asshole movement is all just a ploy to make us buy things! It's not about human decency or equality at all! :p

By the way, you do know a countries debt isn't caused by it's people going into debt, it's caused by the government going into debt.

PC is just ridiculous. I've never understood why people take offense at anything, let alone calling something by a name you don't agree with.

My favorite is the spring break that occurs weeks before Easter. WTF do we need a break for if it isn't Easter? As a college student I must admit that we have it fucking easy and haven't earned any extra time off compared to everyone else who has to continue working.

And as for PC, I'm an agnostic who celebrates Easter for fun and even I think this is BS.

If you don't want to celebrate the religious aspects of a religious holiday, but still choose to celebrate it, then you have no right to *****. It is a Christian-based holiday. You don't have to celebrate it, and you certainly don't have to ruin it because you're offended (for no reason whatsoever).

I heard about this a few days ago. It actually pissed me off. Fuck political correctness, I'm calling them Easter eggs, because that's what they are.

Yup, like nearly all 'political correctness gone mad' examples, this story is made up.
Ssshhhh, don't tell anyone, you don't want to interrupt their mad ranting!

But really, there is nothing that people love more than their moment of snorting anger over the breakfast table at some supposed issue.

These are the same gullible morons who are still angry that the EU mandates that bananas can't be bended or that sausages must be renamed "Emulsified high-fat offal tubes". People make these stories up and there are plenty of boneheads ready to believe it.
The beautiful thing is nobody will read that link, and instead you'll just get more mad ranting. Already there's been 20 posts since mine, and only one that picked up on the fact that it's all bollocks. The rest is just the usual reactionary bullshit.

Still... Bloody political correctness eh? Can't say anything these days...

Your absolutely right. To be fair to all religions the Spring sphere hunt should be held during a time that all religions find equally unappealing. I was thinking maybe we could have it June 3rd each year, this will totally remove the possibility of people getting all 'Oh no's thats not PC enough' and just make them completely not give a damn about the event completely.

Well for a second i thought this might not be as ridiculous as it sounded. Then i started the video.

For the record there are many religions who celebrate at Spring Equinox. Generally its about rebirth and fertility, as well as the balance of light and dark. The former is largely the reason easter is celebrated on the Spring Equinox, what better time to celebrate the rebirth of your God then the time everyone else traditionally does it, the time when the symbology adds to the celebration. Many religions beside Christianity still celebrate on Easter. Also the eggs and bunny are in no way Christan symbols, rather they are traditional Pagan symbols representing birth and fertility. Easter egg hunts are a pretty religion neutral celebration to be honest. The origins are pagan and the practice is done by Christians, there is no real overt meaning to the hunt other then seeking prosperity and fertility (the eggs).

Also PC is silly. You ought to be civil to everyone but that does not mean you have to agree. You ought to give them respect as pepole, but that does not mean you must give lip service to their faith. You must give respect to a persons Choice of religion or philosophy, but not necessarily anything more than common courtesy to their belief it self. In the end it amounts to you ought not scream "you will be damned" or "fuck you" at the top of your lungs. You don't even have to respect their beliefs just allow them the freedom to choose their beliefs and practice them.

Reactions like this are why I can't wait for an entirely secular world, worship your iron age fairytales while it's still considered sane.
