Wait...seriously?! Its finally happening?! We can just complain about the namings of everything oh boy I've been waiting for this day, I have a list:

Saturday (Sat-her-day), as a male I feel it excludes me thus my voted change to Genitaliaday, it celebrates both sexes

Sunday? Are we living in the 16th century? Come on it should be named Popeday, in that it doesn't discriminate against children....it diddles! Sorry couldn't help myself (its alright I'm Christian!)

Purple is too deeply related to royalty and our former class system which oppressed so many people and I think purple shall now be known as Florple, I have tested it against the key demographics and they all agree about this rebranding of Purple

I think we can all agree it is sexist to call us MANkind or huMANs which is why [Proposition] We change the name to meatbag and meatbagkind to include all meatbags and destroy any sexist connotations

[Lamentation] The word homosapien sounds too much like homosexual which is why I propose the change to a much more suitable name. [Excitement] Meatslaves, part of the Slave to Robots genus!

Reactions like this are why I can't wait for an entirely secular world, worship your iron age fairytales while it's still considered sane.
You can't disprove them any more than I can prove them. I respect your opinion but disagree wholeheartedly.

OT: Is this really a thing? I mean, I know it's already been suggested that the whole thing is fake, but if they want to call them 'Spring Spheres' why bother caring about their idiocy at all? Let them call it what they want. All I know is that if I'm ever asked to join a spring sphere hunt, I know I'll respond 'Sure, I love Easter eggs'!

He is risen!

I have always felt terribly insulted by the word "egg", so I completely agree with this.
Oh I so agree. We must forbid anyone to use the word egg, except for us to use among ourselves of course.

There is an equal amount of evidence for Zeus, Odin, Unicorns, an interstellar teacup and the tooth fairy but I'm guessing you've already dismissed those.

It's gone completely mad. Spring holiday. Saying happy holidays instead of merry christmas. If they keep doing this I'll start killing hostages.
Well, happy holidays can include Hannukha, which falls around the whole period of decorations, vacations and shopping. And there are certainly enough Jews around where I live to warrant the inclusion. Kwanza too, but I think that holiday was deliberately placed around Christmas.
I suppose that's true. Still all my jewish friends we're fine with it and would just reply "Happy Hannukah". Then the PC brigade rolled out their whiney letters and now christians, jews and all the other people celebrating various religious holidays at any time have to bend to their wills.

I think as a geometrist (well topologist, but swings and roundabouts) I should be getting offended that they're not particularly spherical, unless some prick made spherical spring spheres just to upset me personally.

Well, I was always taught that the egg thing was about the boulder that blocked Jesus' burial cave and it strikes me the boulder was probably a lot more spherical than egg-shaped (remembering it rolled out the way) so sphere is probably a lot truer to Easter than egg. Also, you don't have to say "Happy Holidays" it's just some people got pissed off that all the signs on shops and stuff said "Happy Christmas" so they made it a bit more inclusive to all people. Seems fair enough to me.

You can't sing "ba ba, black sheep" anymore. It's "ba ba, rainbow sheep/white sheep."

Really not true, some stupid parent complained at a school and the school (fearing a lawsuit) changed it. It is not law that you must say ba ba rainbow sheep.

Personally, I don't think all too crazy. First of all, Spring Spheres sounds kind of cool. It makes me think of little glass orbs you can throw that make different seasons burst out.

But yeah. Okay, it's not like I was ever offended by the word easter egg or anything, but nor was I ever particularly attached to it.
Call it whatever you like, but, to me, Easter will always be the holiday of buying excessive amounts of chocolate ovals, just like Christmas is not ever Christ's mass, but the day of getting excessive amounts of loot.

Call it Hitlerday if you want, it's not going to change anything.

I can kind of understand the happy holidays (the irony, holiday originates from holy day) considering how widespread the season festivities is (and it originated not as a christian holiday to begin with).

But Easter eggs being called spring spheres, really? I am an atheist and i find this just absolutely ridiculous.

If you celebrate it just for the eggs then your basicaly mooching off our religious holiday. If you change the name completely then you should just go home and not bother celebrating.
Easter means different things for different people. Originally it was the Spring Solstice before Christians took the day as their own and made it Easter. Let alone the non religious can enjoy the day with their family's and eat a shit load of chocolate.

But to continue on topic this really seems like over the top PC.

I find it funny that my first thought upon reading this was "But eggs are ovals, not spheres." After which the reality of the pure stupid sunk in and I laughed...then cried a bit on the inside.

Seriously though, why spheres? Why not Spring Eggs? Why not just change the part you are scared of instead of trying to be creatively stupid and prove you state doesn't even teach proper geometry? Hell, the word oval comes from the Latin word ovum which means EGG! Eggs are not spheres.

Oddly, I'm still more irritated at the "spheres" part than the whole incident. Possibly because the idiocy of PC has long since stopped being surprising in any way.

This is why Anti-Thiests piss me off more than religious nuts. At least religious nuts are loosely based around a book that they misinterpret. Most of the time Anti-Thiests are just being douches.

Before anyone asks, I am an Agnostic and I don't give a flying fuck what someones religion is. As long as you don't try to force it on me you can believe in Jesus, Allah, Yahweh, Zues, or a flying spaghetti monster. I will listen if you want to explain it but the second you demand I change we will have issues.

We also wish to remind you that the Aperture science spring sphere will not threaten or attempt to kill you, in the event that one does please use the standard issue spring sphere neutralization rifle you were mandated at the beginning of the tournament to neutralize the spring sphere"
