the chinese are more... old school, than countries like the US and UK.

Honestly I've never been against hitting your kid in public as punishment. I know my parental figures werent, and quite frankly i've seen the ***** premadonnas that dont get a nice little swat in the head and how they act when they're grown and I couldnt stand if my kid acted that way.
While I agree, what happens in this video is beyond a simple smack for mouthing off or doing something balls-stupid.
I agree on both points. Kids sometimes need a smack. But this kid was ganged up on. It's actually a pretty traumatic thing right there, being surrounded and beaten (even of the beating was not some super brutal beating the bit where he targeted the hands was pretty bad) is a mental trauma.
I have never been against hitting a kid for corporal punishment but you need some serious tact and public humiliation does not cut it. And it's really easy to injure a small child so one has to know exactly what is being done.

Well, sadly I'm not surprised. There were stories of a girl getting gangraped and people just stood and watched. I beloved there is a law that states that the more people who are around when something bad happens, the less likely someone will help. Can't remember what the name was
The Bystander Effect, named after the Murder of Kitty Genovese in 1964. She was murdered mere feet away from her apartment building, while people just looked.

it,s called the bystander effect people expect of each other that they are going to do something.
Ah, that's what it was. Thank you

The sense of "justice" in that part of the world is perplex and as Christianity is taught from birth over there, the sense of "justice" is taught there.

If that kid is a pickpocket then they are not racist but preforming what they believe to be their civic duty. In Kenya if you shout the words "stop thief" and point, an entire mob will drop what they are doing, charge after the individual and in most cases beat them to death if that accused person runs.

Different people around the world, different customs. We can't judge them by our own standards (though that doesn't mean we can't damn try to change them).

Its horrific but... that's their world.

(I can't speak Chinese but if you can please tell us if they are beating a thief or a child for being a different race, as if its the latter all I just wrote is irrelevant and they are evil etc)

Why does this have to be racist? Maybe the kid stole something and it pissed them off. Maybe they would have doen the same thing regardless of colour.

Personally, I couldn't make it more than a minute into the video. It is disgusting awful behaviour, but it's not necessarily racist. Right?

Chinese culture is generally opposite to the western cultures. I have a few friends from China (or with parents from China) and they said the reason they moved to Canada was to get away from this shit. They even say that the only government worse than China's is North Korea's. Never would have guessed it would be this bad though. How about we make them the new Russians for videogame enemies? Its not like they would care anyways.

China?

The same country with a toddler got hit by a vehicle or two while people just walked on by and ignored it?
This

It's sad but if they didn't give a shit about a baby getting ran over. I wouldn't expect to see'em hop out their seats for a kid getting it's ass beat.

I believe that the Bystander Effect, while it is certainly in play here to a degree, isn't the only reason. The Bystander Effect simply means that people will push off responsibility and often ignore certain events.

Not only did these people gather around the beating, which means they do not choose to avoid it, some of them were actually laughing and commenting on it. So no, it might be easy to just say "Bystander Effect" and be done with it, but it alone doesn't cut it in this case.

If this is really true, I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Seriously though, this is fucking sickening to watch. So is that one case where a little kid got crushed by two trucks and everyone just walked by. Some of them walking around the poor kid.
What the fuck is wrong with people!?

Thing is, this sort of thing is normal in places like China. China is a backwards and fucked up place. Parents still beat their kids there, and in many places it's acceptable for a random stranger to beat a child if he/she gets out of line.

It's a good thing for the kid's sake that Asians hit like complete pussies, it'll take a dozen of them kicking you at the same time to break skin.

Are...uh...are you sure about that?

Bruce, Sonny, Jet and Jackie are exceptions. Also Sonny is the most badass out the group. The REAL Street Fighter movie was so violent it got an X rating on the sheer violent content that was in it. It's still in my top five action movies.

It's sick, but yeah, thats kinda how it works, the more people there are, the more likely people are of thinking that something is okey, or that someone else would step in and stop it if it wasnt okey.

Much like a social experiment they did in Norway many years ago, cant remember exacly where/when though, but what they did was they hired a male and a female actor/actress, who then went to a certain street, where the male actor started harrassing the female, *****-slapping her and pulling her hair, screaming at her and spitting on her, pretty much every nasty thing someone can do to another person, it took over 20 minutes of abuse until someone actually stopped him, and this was on a very busy street.

I've just been shown this video on Facebook by a friend of mine and... I don't know what to say. What the hell? What did this kid do to deserve this? How can so many people be standing by and watching as this goes on? And are these just normal Chinese people, or has the Chinee government been breeding and releasing some kind of humanoid monster onto the streets? To any escapists who already know of this, what the hell happened here?
I've seen the video before, and I showed it to a Chinese friend who told me that he has seen it before and that the kid was caught stealing, apparently this is not the first time he was caught either. Hope that makes things clear.

This is some sick stuff, I wish for them all to be castrated.

Seriously, all I could think of is how much that little kid reminded me of my own son.

I don't think I could ever do it myself...

But my friends different cultures, well, they differ.

Alot of us being from the western world see this and it's shocking. But it probably isn't too out of the ordinary over there. (excuse my ignorance if I'm wrong.)

Apparently he was caught stealing and this was the disciplinary action. It's not nice to hear a child cry and certainly worse to watch a large group of fully grown adults bully one. But I guess that is their methods. It's not like there was any permanent damage caused. Physically, at least.
