Videogames are pretty much the only good thing I have going for me in my life. I work full-time in a job I hate for a man I can't stand, to help my parents keep the roof over our head.
I'm supposed to take over sound at his hotel but I have this awful feeling I'll get screwed over, so I'm just biding my time until my world falls apart yet again...

Well, this is going to be interesting. I am one of those people who will try to sway your opinion by any means necessary. It is a personality flaw of my own. To be honest, it wasn't until just recently that I realised I am compelled to do just that. (I've always admitted to being quite the devil's advocate but this is different.) Gears of War 3 now has something that might cause more rifts in friendships than I doubt they intended.
You may have heard of it. Save Carmine or Carmine Must Die? See -- I'm a Carmine Must Die extremist and noticed that after about thirty minutes, I was having a seriously legit argument with somebody of the opposing faction. I can not help myself. Although, in my defence, I usually don't try to force my opinion as much as I try to defend it.
But before I digress any further, just as you are able to express your love of Mass Effect 2 then that person should -- by theory -- be allowed to express their hatred of Mass Effect 2. By saying said person can't complain, you are also denying them the right of opinion as well. Nobody says you have to argue with someone when they provoke. It's a two way street.
You've decided your opinion something other than your opinion. You don't like it, I do. It kind of ends there but you keep insisting on trying to prove that you not liking it is somehow a reason for me to not like it.

Well at this point it seems like they've made it their personal mission to make me change my opinion by telling me all about how they didn't like it and the problems they had. I am more than happy to let a person have an opinion but it just sounds like they are trying to shout me down than honestly try and convince me. It's all the more weird because I keep saying it's your opinion but it doesn't have to be mine.
What an amazingly off topic post, way to derail a thread.
OT: Opinions should not be forced on anyone, people will like different things, people will disagree, this will never change, but because you like something does mean someone else HAS to like it and visa versa.
EDIT: Oops, I hit post instead of preview... well, opinions are fun to discuss for reasons that I couldn't tell you. I guess people like to talk about themselves and talking about things they like and discussing them with other people who also like the same things. But arguing opinions doesn't make a lot of sense, especially since you can't prove anything with facts. But it's certainly fun to talk about.

Just ignore the dipwads like Daedalus. (I wouldn't normally name-call, but since he's already been pointed at...) Whenever I'm online and see a post like that, I immediately skip it. There's no point to reading them, it's just a narrow-minded troll with nothing better to do.
well done! thee most obvious fact in any computer software however I would like to say that it wasn't glitchly (even though they are call BUGS as you are suggesting that your system is at fault) enough to complain about
Hahahaha... the game was just awful... Deal with it.
The plot made no sense, the voice acting wasn't as good, there were so many glitches (on the PC version), the characters weren't remotely likeable, they ruined the exploration side of things, you couldn't go back to any area you'd already been to.
They brought in scanning, and got rid of the mako (the mako was a good idea just not executed all that well, though I had no complaints), the new paragon and renegade action system was just crap.
They tied medi-gel into biotic powers cooldown (that makes no sense whatsoever) as well as ammo being a biotic power?
Seriously did bioware or that fucking hack Drew Karpyshyn put any thought into this game at all? They gutted the Vanguard, and made them very useless. Charge was crap because you'd use it and then due to the absolutely retarded cover system, go to run away and then get stuck on a wall or crate. Next thing you know you're dead because you couldn't escape.
All your old team members got maybe a 5 minute cameo (apart from Tali Ray Na'Zorah), that was it.
And finally the piece de resistance, the
[spoiler\]Human Reaper
.
Seriously what the hell were bioware thinking? The plot barely made enough sense up until that part. How the hell would that have allowed them to indoctrinate the human race easier? It was pointless, arbitrary and just plain retarded.
Everyone raved about this game and god knows why.
Every aspect of the first game that worked and was decently thought out, they took and just tore to pieces, dumbing it down for a certain target audience and basically destroying what could really have been a rich, original new IP series.
I have stated fact, not opinion. I have looked at every possible aspect of this game and compared to the first game it just doesn't live up to the "shining review" every single game site gave it.
I'm clearly not a troll, as I have stated several true and completely valid reasons for my hatred of this title.
I'm also disgusted on Bioware's behalf that they released the game brand new with all the glitches and game breaking bugs it has in it.
Unless alot changes, I shan't be buying III.
-edit- Also, I should probably state I went into this game expecting to love it. I was obsessed with Mass Effect when it first came out (i own it on both pc and 360)
I paid $120 for the collector's edition because I was so psyched about this game.
I tried as hard as I could to like it, but to my dismay found it had been turned into what was basically just another generic third person shooter.[/spoiler]
Okay so you're the guy that he's talking about? You came here to talk about ME2? A thread that would not be about Mass Effect? Problems. That is all I need to say. There are problems with this argument. The game is clearly not as bad as you make out otherwise you wouldn't be considering buying the third or have bothered to play it all the way through. It would also not be as popular as it is.
Could you please take your petty rants elsewhere. This is verging on troll levels now. You made your opinion a while ago now can you move on? We don't need your opinion spread all over the forums.
Anyhoo, nasty business aside, when you see someone who is very aggressive in their opinion, you shout troll. It's the same thing you do when you see someone with an axe above their head, you shout axe murderer. But, if you take a closer look you'll see it's a statue of a town legend who happened to be a lumberjack. When you read through the argument you've had you can sometimes see the differences between a troll and someone who's opinion matters. A troll will comment on your bad grammar when it is irrelevant. Or say something that doesn't matter. They will also show no sign of respect towards your opinion. Most of the time the argument will have little or no consistency to it and you will be left arguing about something else at the end.
The trick is to stop arguing when you realise it's out of hand and stop replying. It's that simple; troll or not, an argument needs more than one opinion and yours is one of them. Once that's gone they're left looking like an ass.

I kinda figured, such an off topic post had to come from the original argument (and I found it it your post history )
In this case the subject is pretty much entirely subjective and therefor any argument is pointless, I cant say I've played the games, but a game that popular got that popular for a reason, if the game was as Daedalus put it "just awful" then well it wouldn't be as nearly as popular as it is.
That entire opening line is kind of (actually REALLY) stupid
"Hahahaha... the game was just awful... Deal with it."
You don't have to deal with it, you didn't find it "awful" 6 play throughs kind of prove that.

Well that is what makes it so bizarre, the weird fixation to try and prove that I am at fault for liking it. It's kind of like a car wreck, you just keep looking at it.

Also note that humanity seems to believe that "To me, my opinion is fact" makes a shred of sense and is a valid reason to force their opinion on others.
I get the definition of an opinion but what I'm mostly wondering is at what point does having an opinion cease to be reasonable and become frothy-mouthed trollery.
Once a conscious decision is made to turn it into frothy mouthed trollery. Having dabbled in trolling at one point I can say for sure that it is something done consciously, you make the decision to act against someone, as opposed to overstatement or overenforcement of opinion without the intention of getting a negative reaction.

Haha don't flatter yourself this thread is not about you nor is about ME2. If your read the OP you'll find its about opinions and why people find the need to force them upon others as fact when they are neither fact or even asked for.

Yeah I've had this kind of thing before, the person kept on arguing(subject matter was facts not opinions) and no matter how many times i would counter any point he made he would keep arguing to the point that we were miles off topic and I just had to leave cause he literally stopped making sense.
