This is exactly why I think ANZAC Day is bullshit and refuse to participate. And I'm the disrespectful one.

The funeral/wake dynamic works very well thank you very much. We remember our predecessors who gave up their lives and then live the lives that most of them wanted to.

Although of course, the racist elements who come out can fuck off and the turds who mess up ANZAC cove and leave it for the turks to clean up can go die in a fire.

I'm with you on ANZAC Day clockmaker. Although, because of my position at the unit, I generally don't finish up and get out of uniform until close to 1400. Then, there's jut enough time to get to the RSL, ready for the opening bounce of Collingwood vs Essendon.

As for Saturday, I'll be looking at rental properties in the morning, then cracking a nice cold beer and listening to the top order of the hottest 100.

Technically we are celebrating our federation, the fact was that the day of federation was the 1st of January, which is also New Years Day. It was moved to the 26th as a way of doubling up two significant events. Anyway I'm not yet sure what I'll be doing, probably drinking, tis the day I suppose.

Yeah...cause it's not like we haven't already said sorry, given them and their children plenty of benefits and services, and generally try and make up for something that we in the present had no control over. I get that many Aboriginal people are against Australia day because it was the day that we colonized and tried to genetically erase them, but that was in the past. Now yes, Racism is still present in our country, but Australia Day is about Celebrating being an Aussie, be you white, black, yellow, purple, brown etc.

So while I get their is some resentment, lets get over it, make up and have a blast with mates and family and look forward to Australias future.

Dude, ANZAC day is about remembering the fallen soldiers whom died to protect our country, you're not required to get blind drunk and act like a fuckhead, your just suppose to remember the fallen and thank them for their sacrifice.

You don't even have to spend the whole day doing so, all it is is one minute of silence and then back to whatever it is you would normally be doing. If you do that, than you're not being disrespectful, and you must just not have parties or events for it, which is fine, a lot of people, including me don't. But if you refuse to take one minute out of your life to remember the fallen, than you really are being disrespectful.

Nothing for Australia day itself. Its a public holiday, but I'm not going to dedicate it to a country that's really nothing special to me. I'm spending the morning sleeping till one of my friends comes down, then we're heading out to Ballarat in the afternoon for another friend's party which goes from 5 till 9 the next morning before heading back home Monday, dropping her off at her house then going to my Nanna's 70th birthday Lunch.
Hectic day or two for me, but it would be regardless of whether it was Australia day or not. The day itself really isn't anything special.
