I consider every day I spend not giving away my property and consuming highly advanced technological goods on a nation founded through the rape of and murder of hundreds of thousands, enjoying the fruits of the deaths of trillions of humans before me in the last 10.000 or so years which have enabled me to enjoy this level of progress and civilization as a continual state of pressing the button.

We ALL are standing on a tower made of corpses which has allowed our species to reach the heights that it has.

So, if I suddenly decide one day to bring those people back to life, that'll count as "being taken care of", and then I'll have caused no real pain, right? Plus, those families will make headlines from having someone in their lives being brought back to life. They'll be living, breathing, miracles.

Unless my "every whim" doesn't actually mean "every", and instead means "every whim that is possible at the moment", in which case I wouldn't press it.

The main reason I propose that me pressing the button is my goals and such would save and improve millions of lives, so the conundrum is "is it worth killing five people (who could be bad or could be good) to save millions"

Yes as the guy above me also said it would be possible, I don't think for one min that me alone can save lives, but with the power of the button, which "your every whim will be catered to" so if I wanted lives saved or poverty and starvation solved they would be, and thus saving lives would be possible with the button.
I won't discuss with you any more as you seem to be stubborn and not attempting to look at anyone else view, apart from that you used captioned pictures, which only proves that your not worth my time.

Probably. My life hasn't been up to par lately, and I could do anything I wanted when I got catered. I could give the scraps to the homeless to even out the grief from the lost family people. Or go to Africa and throw banquets. Because When I get catered, free of charge, I shall mooch of it as much as I can!

Five people dieing wont make any difference to the world but if IM reach and powerful that will make a difference to the world, a good difference mind you. Five family's morning is not rare, thousand of family's morn the lose of there loved ones EVERY day!!! You thing of them? NO you do not and its better that way, trust me.

i want scientists to come up with an easy and cheap method for space travel
i want food to become easier to grow, stopping world hunger

Why?

Well, if I don't, I might be next on the target list, dying suddenly because of someone else's greed.

Also, if it's life-lengthening as you say it is, I can achieve far more in my one life than 5 other people could in their lives. Not to mention the fact that those 5 random people could very well just be a single family. It'd be a coincidence, but no-one claims that it wouldn't.

Guilt? Not really. It's not me actually murdering anyone. It's the diety that created the button that made those rules. That's like rigging some explosives to a baby and letting someone else detonate them when he's being told he'll receive loads of money, and if he doesn't press that button, someone else probably will. The people will die, better be on the winning side of it all.

I don't exactly place any value on human life. Thousands died while I slept (and thousands more replaced them), and adding to the death toll wouldn't be much of a problem with me. It may be disheartening at first because several died to make my wish come true, but if I kept pushing that button, I will eventually stop caring.

Yes, if I'm never going to be aware of the people that go away then I would press the button, not without hesitiation but still. The world is bad and cruel as it is, would be like farting in the wind, and with all that good stuff, perhaps I could even save more than 5 lives?

okay, so now my every whim is catered to, along with the healing factor and age suppressant factor (fit, healthy, long life), i have titanium and diamond-infused bones, retractable knives in my arms and feet, working Iron Man boots and gloves and a miniature, wrist mounted flamethrower.
and Canadian citizenship.

then i'd go to Afghanistan. (i'm basically Wolverine. who the fuck's going to mess with the country who has Wolverine?) thats a few thousand lives saved, and destruction prevented. not to mention the removal of the Taliban. i think that outweighs the five people i killed.
then I'd sort out Africa by taking down the warlords, and allowing humanitarian aid into the country (plus i can provide lots of food/water/medicine).
i'd disarm the Somali pirates, allowing humanitarian aid into there as well.
and my finale: sitting Israel down with the rest of the Middle East and make them have a long chat about whatever and make friends.

then i'd retire as a merc, change my name to Logan and work as a lumberjack in the Rockies until the US gov't hires me to work with the a bunch of other people like me.

Well, from what I could grasp from the question, you offer godhood for 5 lives. As compeling this may sound at first, I think I wouldn't do that. But not because of the price.
As our good spidey-friend keep shoving in our heads: ''with great powers comes great responsabilty''... So if you press the button, since you have the veto in every action in the universe, you will also get the responsability for everything that happens...

-No starvation? Either you destroy the agronomy or you make different beings
-Save economy? No new ideas (and therefore changes), so stagnation
-Infinity wisdom? Probably (I don't have infinite wisdom, so I don't know) you would now know that you can't change much, making the sacrifice kinda meaningless.

The point is : the button will grant the destruction of the world since nobody can control godhood. And I don't want to screw the whole world for an illusion

well i won't call you evil because that's what a lot of people would do and people do die everyday but we don't think about it because we aren't responsible for their deaths.

Nope, I wouldn't even think about touching the button. I don't want the life I dream of handed down to me, to echo Nietzsche on this one "What could man create if gods existed?" What would be my left of my dream if someone made it for me? People dying doesn't even factor in to my equation, because I know that to get to the top, I'll probably have to step on people, and some people might suffer through my decisions.

Really I might feel a twinge of guilt but I would still press that button in a second. If I could have everything I wanted instantly I could make this world a much better place for many more people and those five would be an acceptable sacrifice for me.
