I'd press it.
Dick move? Maybe.
Selfish? Absolutely.

but I'd press it anyway, and maybe twice to be sure.

I would and spend my life studying, researching and working with curing diseases in poor countries. Cause that's how I imagine my perfect life. Killing 5 to get the chance of researching diseases and finding cures and also getting the chance to work in the field curing diseases is worth killing 5 people for.

I'd press it, and since EVERY whim will be catered, I will demand a machine that can revert death, use it to save those 5 people, and then blow it up.

I wont in my current state, Im just an eighteen year old Caucasian red haired male living with his parents in highschool working at mcdonalds. While i Never have felt the joy of a women other than a friend, my life is good, REAL good. I think i would need to go threw a lot of suffering and pain before i consider pushing the button.

Nope, wouldn't do it.

Also, about the guilt thing: I'd be more inclined to think that the guilt would would eat away at you over time. If you happen to run into one of the family members of those 5 people you are responsible for the deaths of, then you'd really be screwed emotionally.

Yes. My *every* whim would allow me to reform the world as I saw fit, I'd be an immortal ruler of all mankind. I could sacrifice 5 people for that. Especially if one of those five were Paris Hilton. And if this is some wibbly-wobbly magicky-wagicky device, I could brong those 5 back anyway. Unless one of them was Paris Hilton.

I wouldn't push it. Not because of morals but because life wouldn't be as interesting if I got everything I wanted and I'm pretty content at the moment.

No. I would never kill five people just to make my life easier. I could never live with myself.

However, since I'm about as close to Neutral Good as you can get in the real world, I would do it if "every whim" means I was able to help more people than I harmed.

I honestly don't know. If I could choose who died (pick death-row inmates or criminals still on the loose), then yes. I wouldn't want 5 innocents dying just for me to have a nice life...although I guess that kind of stuff happens every day, doesn't it?

I would honestly press the button without a seconds thought, and if I could press it again and make my friends/family's lives incredible I would press it for all of them aswell

....Of course not. this really isn't even a choice. I mean seriously? I don't deserve an awesome life more then they deserve to live.

Well, if my "every whim" can include an end to world hunger, or if I can use some of my newly obtained wealth to save lots of lives, then sure.
I really don't have anything else to add to this. My thoughts have been summed up pretty well by others already. About the only reason I would press it is to make the world a better place and make everyone happier, but I still wouldn't be sure. Even if I would never meet their loved ones, due to the terms of agreement for the button, I would still be uncomfortable with the thought of explaining to them why I choose to kill these people.

EDIT: (could someone tell me how to do the "cross out text" thing?)

I swear I've seen this kinda thing before... I said yes I would to other ones... So I guess my calousness and general disposition toward my fellow man leads me to another hypothetical life of luxury?

Just puttin it out there, who's to say that those 5 people weren't gonna die whether the button was pressed or not... A LOT of people die daily... so yeah I'd have no mark on my conscience, and no regrets... I've lived at the bottom my entire life, it would be rather something to not be poor... or in and out of work constantly...

Also, my worldview is simple, WE ALL DIE, it's just how it happens, my day will come dunno if it's today, tomorrow, the next... But in this world when you're stuck going between bummin money of everyone, and in debt to barely surviving workin at a gas station or a fast food place cuz you can't get a loan for educational costs, and can't get yer arse into the buddy list of anyone with a few million, yer kinda gonna die poor, and live in poverty. I mean havin an internet connection means I'm doing alright right now, but lookin in my fridge lately has been almost enough to make me cry, runnin outa food again... and I dun got the cash to buy more... just a hint at why I'd take a chance at that button thing with no second thoughts...

Yes, and then i would commit suicide over the guilt.

Oh if that's anything like the movie with Cameron Diaz then next victims will be me or my family so that sucks.
