Is it just me, or does a poster who with a "User was put on prohibition for this comment" just look totally badass? I always click the link to see what they've written that was so offensive, and half the time it isn't even that bad.

Anyway, doesn't anyone else consider this a 'badge of honour', or am I just weird?

I do not see it as a badge of honor. Not even close.

I do, however, always feel compelled to click them and view why people got it.

[sub]And it's probation[/sub]

I've been on probation and its no badge of honour, its a rather disheartening feeling(OH NOES I CAN'T HAVE Neo) that makes me feel like a class bully.

I shall give my opinions on both prohibition and probation, just to be safe!

I always click the link to see some hilarious, offensive comments. Nine times out of ten I'm disappointed when what they were put on probation for was actually incredibly tame.

On prohibition, I don't believe it has any merit. The more strongly you prohibit something the more people will want to do it; look at how kids are with alcohol, drugs or sex.

I always click on them just to see.
What merits a probation is very inconsistent so I always like to see what earned the person one this time. A lot of the time it's just for something tiny.

And those 1-day probations are just stupid. What's the point? Surely a warning would've done?

It most certainly not a badge of honor imo. However, I do generally click on them so I can get a better sense of what not to say here.

I always feel compelled as well.

And okay, I was wondering about that. I was going, "I'm certain it's probation" because when he said "quick question about prohibition", I was like, "Oh, a question about 1920s prohibition America? I'm interested." And then it was just about being on probation...

They used to be fun to click on, but all anyone gets put on probation for nowadays is Round X, Zynga vs. Developer threads which mostly consist of people being that special kind of special thats not even facepalm worthy.

I always follow links to see how people got in trouble, but I don't think it's a badge of honor. It's kind of the opposite.

Pssh, probations as a sign of coolness? Weaksauce

I knew a guy on a forum a few years ago who counted in his signiture the number of bannings he recieved on other forums. It reached about 6 or 7

...he was pretty badass...

I click them to see what was said, but I don't see it as a badge of honor. It's not hard to get put on probation and badge of honor implies something that you actually need to work for.

I was expecting a question about 1920's USA. Instead i got this. Shame on you!

And yes, you are weird. Sort of. But "prohibition" is certainly not a "HE'S THE BAD GUY" sign either. It's more of a "HEY LOOK OVER THERE" sign. I always have that tingling suspicion the user was a victim rather than an agressor.

The Neo badge is a badge of honour. Those links are handy way of finding out how not to behave.

As for prohibition - I'm for it. The Mob has been down on their luck lately. They could use the work.

Prohibition was a time when it was illegal to buy, sell, or manufacture alcohol.

Probation on the other hand, is when a mod gives you a warning for doing something stupid. I always click on those to see how they got in trouble.
