I was looking at "Thief : Deadly shadows" and it said it does NOT support laptop play. Does this mean the mouse pad, or what, because I have a USB wireless mouse. Why would it not work?

EDIT : Accidentally put Valve on there instead of STEAM. sorry.

It could just be a processing power issue. Try it anyway, it could work. It could also be a battery issue. I've played battlefield 2142 on a laptop and the battery was drained from full to half in ten minutes.

Maybe it's something to do with the smaller keyboard? I'm not sure, this is probably the sort of thing you should be asking customer support. There's no real difference between a laptop and and desktop that should affect it.

Where are you seeing this, by the way?

When I look at the steam page for it is says "Thief: Deadly Shadows does not support play on laptop computers."

EDIT : Way on the bottom of the page.

Yeah, I have a gaming Gateway laptop and it's battery life is good, but I almost always have it plugged in when I'm using it.

That does make sense... but seems annoying. Seriously. I want to be able to play a game at school on breaks (Or when I tire of the class)

Perhaps it's a roundabout way of saying that the game won't run well on laptops?

When Thief came out, gaming laptops were no where near as powerful as they are now. If they even existed at prices low enough for us common plebs to afford. Don't worry about it. If you're laptop is decent then you should be fine.

Quoted for being right.
Laptop graphics cards (even gaming ones) are rarely supported by games, you will most likely have to do some tweaking to make it work.

It means you need to be plugged in to the mains and sitting to play it, on no account are you to play the game on a train or in a public area, the result could be catastrophic.

It's also free on gametap.

I don't know about the whole graphics thing. My friend has a laptop with some of the best hardware available, and he can play Fallout 3 on ultra-high settings with no problems (that is, if Vista lets him open it).

You can download it for free from gametap, try it out on that, and if you have no problems and want to contribute, then buy it.

They're just covering their butts. They're only saying they don't support it, they're not saying it won't work. That is, if you install it and can't get it to work and contact them, they will just tell you to install it on a desktop. If you're positive it'll work then you should be ok.

Yeah, but if gametap didn't blow a steaming load...

It doesn't support 64 bit windows and there's nothing that I know of to fix that. (I was quite mad when I found out)

Really? that sucks. Although I've been struggling to get the first 2 thief games working on my 32bit xp so it appears that compatibility issues isn't a new problem.

Yeah. I might contact gametap to see what they can do, but it seems weird, because most vista PCs coming out now are 64 bits now, right?
