Just a 1,000? That's too little to start a proper army and too much for a nice evil cult.
I guess a harem would work tho, as long as they are good masons they could even build me a citadel to live in where i could sit on my fancy throne and have a good time. Oh and some of them would work for me money too so i wouldn't have to.

also, have laws that allow non consealed bladed weapons XD,
and people who have been tried and tested can have firearms. ( e.g not a nutter, preferably clever, age limit at say.. 22? i couldent have one for 2 years yet but that sounds about right to me XD )
and i wont allow freeloafers like the rest of the netherlands. you always do SOMETHING even if i have to get you do EVERYONES bloody lawn with a fucking nailclipper at gunpoint. XD

Have them move into regular lives, spreading out across the globe, living it out as they would, but giving me telepathic status updates on important events. Those that work in nondescript jobs would send me a percentage of their earnings through anonymous channels, enabling to live without worrying about financial sustainment. Then, sit back and await opportunity. A thousand puppets, evenly distributed around the world. Worst case scenario? I live out a life without having to worry about money. Best case scenario? I'm leader of a country in 10 years.

Honestly? I'd let 800 of them go, and keep the rest to start my own advertising firm. I'd have them handle finances, accounting, budgeting while I just focused on advertising ideas with a few others.
