However, remember that police snipers are often trained to "shoot creatively", and are capable of shooting a revolver out of a sitting man's hand between his legs [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ff4XuPtAOUk]. A .338 Lapua round hitting the middle of an assault rifle would certainly disable it.

Yes, because in this instance the objective is to prevent the death of a hostage. The addition of the unborn child is unfortunate, but if the situation has called for a sniper, then her threats have already been deemed serious enough to warrant action.
Plus, you follow orders, if I'm ordered to shoot, I shoot, and don't think about the child.

Consider this. You are an officer trained with the use of a sniper rifle, working for the state and are currently resolving an incident at a bank or some other establishment of mass public interest, and its workers and clients are being held hostage by a woman threatening to kill all of them, let's say 30 people. She's made no demands, she just wants to kill and the only way to stop the death of 30 is by killing the one, her.

But also consider this: that the woman is 7 months pregnant and so, by killing one, you kill an innocent also. would you make the shot or not?

Of course. You're not killing an innocent, it's a f****** fetus!

I agree. I don't really think that if you kill the fetus, the baby inside will not remember absolutely anything.

But say if she kills 30 people, that's much, much more emotional pain to the friends and family of all the 30 people.

Also, if this woman made it known that she was pregnant while holding these people hostage, then she didn't give a damn about the child, she just figured she could use it as leverage against being injured or killed by the authorities.
