It could be that they are looking for press exposure but I believe it is because they have nothing better to do than *****. If Crispy Cream were to say "We as an organization are pro choice, so bring us your receit from your abortion and get a free doughnut of your choice!" Then I would see a problem.errorfied said:http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/riptide/2009/01/pro-life_group_up_in_arms_over.php
I think, regardless of your stance on abortion, we can all agree this is a ridiculous claim. I don't actually think they're actually that stupid though. Anybody else think they're just trying to stir up controversy to get press exposure?
Or are they really that dumb?
I know.Erana said:I hate the "pro life" mentality. I can't fathom that they think that pro-choice people like abortions.
They're horrible, awful,
It's old news man. McDonalds has been supporting abortion for years. Hell how do you think they sell those bigmacs so cheap?TheHorizon said:Oh no, a private company, with an opinion?!
Yes, they are. I've had maybe a grand total of 2 in my whole life (they're hard to find around where I live) but I don't think it'd be a serious exaggeration to say they're the best thing I've ever eaten.Puppeteer Putin said:It's a promotion, how could you seriously think a donut company can inlfuence public opinion... Are they really that good? (I've never had a Krispy Kreme... so my response may be redundant).
Yes. It took you this long to realize? (coming from another American)Walrus42 said:Wow... my country is really that stupid?
My college campus would respectfully disagree with you, and so would the entire city of Amsterdam.iain62a said:Nobody would, in the words of Henry Rollins, "Get shit done" if everybody smoked weed.Evilbunny said:Basically sums up my view of the Universe.Ronwue said:/sigh. You fail. Three pages in, and I'm the first one.cuddly_tomato said:Some people really are that dumb.
The thing is you will get 101 people coming forward to defend this crap. It's just annoying.
I definitely have a question for you, Erana.Erana said:I hate the "pro life" mentality. I can't fathom that they think that pro-choice people like abortions.
They're horrible, awful, and no one wants them. Someone serious about being pro-choice would know the major psychological effects abortions have on people.
They are horrible and cruel, and no one should have to make that decision.
Of course, life is horrible and cruel, and loves to present people with terrifying choices to make.
Well..abortion is "making something dead". Also, many women DO want to get an abortion.errorfied said:I also love how the availability of an abortion seems to be synonymous with death for them. Also, pro-life is such a ridiculous term, because it implies that abortions are "pro-death". I don't think anybody ever wants to get an abortion,....
They are something living inside you- as alive as your individual cells, and have the potential to be something so precious. Women are ingrained with so many natural instincts that tell us to protect our children, even before they actually are truly human.Echo3Delta said:I definitely have a question for you, Erana.Erana said:I hate the "pro life" mentality. I've heard similar statements being made by many abortion-rights supporters, including our president. What I would absolutely love to hear is: Why? Why are abortions a bad thing? If the fetus is not indeed a living person, and has no more importance than an appendix, why in the world would it be a "horrible and cruel" decision to make? I came down with appendicitis years ago, couldn't wait to get that thing out of my body, and felt huge relief when it was out of me. I suffered no "psychological effects" because the thing didn't matter.
If fetuses don't matter (as they mustn't, else you would have to admit that it is killing a living human being), why on Earth do you still admit that abortion is a bad thing?
Good point there mate.Echo3Delta said:Sorry, Erana, but if a fetus is indeed a living organism (which it is, otherwise you couldn't kill it), it has to be something. It can't be not human and yet not anything else either; it has to be one thing. We can start with what we know:
It is a unique, living organism, therefore it can be classified. A quick look at its unique DNA sequence will identify it as homo-sapien AKA a human being.
"a human being as distinguished from an animal or a thing"
- one of the definitions of "person" according to Webster's.
"No person shall [...] be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law [...]"
- Amendment 5 of the Bill of Rights
There are many people who cause me major negative psychological effects, but I don't have, nor do I seek, the right to kill them. The only way to legally kill a fetus under the Constitution is for it first to be convicted of a capital crime by a jury of its peers. I don't know who was on the Supreme Court when Roe V. Wade came through, but they obviously had a problem with the English language.
BTW, note the complete absence of religiosity in this argument.
