But no one actually watches Fox News and thinks they are getting serious, honest and unbiased reports... right? We all know it's full of crap, liars and bigots who are not above warping the truth and even inventing things to further their campaign of wholesome, upper-class (white) American beliefs (delusions)... right?
They are one of the highest rated cable shows in the US. O'Reilly's show is the highest rated show on cable (or was). Be afraid for us, very afraid.
We need to take some goddamn action! Otherwise good games with mature themes will never come out here because they are getting wrongly stacked on the same pile as games like Rapelay! (Look it up,and bring brain bleach)
An idea just struck me: Atlus is going to be at E3 2011 in June. Maybe that is when they surprise their NA fans? It is a possibility.
Yep,Catherine will come to the West to celebrate our victory over the pathetic fools know as Fox News and the state of California.

I have no idea what this is or what the OP is talking about. How bout a little set up next time? I enjoy reading about industry trash even if I don't know/don't care about the title.

Well, let's operate under the preconception that the game is a strong attempt at a work of art. It deals with sexuality, it's pretty clear that's the central theme.

Now, let's set aside the American dialogue on adult-themes in video games and look at the broader picture for a moment. American attitudes towards sexuality are simply not the same as Japanese attitudes towards sexuality. But the game is about sexuality?! The game might hit a lot of things that are important to Japanese sexuality, it may critique it, villify it, exort it, celebrate it. It might be about a man dealing with Japanese sexual culture.

That doesn't translate well. You either have a localization that changes it to approximate American symbols and concerns and critiques, or you have a localization that assumes you to be knowledgable of Japanese norms; either way you're not able to see the game as it is intended. The game is specific to Japanese culture, so a localization to other cultures might simply not be appropriate or on the radar.

Crying shame tho. I do want this game out here.

Change to them looking in on the west. They know if they release the likes of Catherine on our end of the world it'll immediately become the medias new RapeLay because all the people who will hear that story are the people who will never bother learning about it. They want to avoid the shitstorm it will undoubtedly cause. They'd already be accusing Atlus for attempting to turn kids gay if any of them every heard about Persona 4.

Yeah but think about something,I keep hearing that none of those people heard of Heavy Rain, which is a French game, maybe games made in other countries can go under the carpet. I mean if RapeLay wasn't mentioned whatsoever in that supreme court case, maybe Catherine can slip under the radar

Looks like I was wrong. Hopefully they might consider a PC Port at some point.

They've officially announced releases for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in North America. Thank you, Atlus. I knew I could count on you. ^_^

It've sold poorly and would have to be very edited and censored to avoid an AO rating - a death sentence to a video game. The costs of doing all that, marketing it and translating the text and voice is obviously (according to their finance department) greater than their potential profit.

No surprise here.
It would still sell as well as their other games have, and it is already a huge success in Japan (it beat out MvC3 in the first week). I doubt it will get an AO rating. It has a lot to do with Sex and Violence, but it is done in a classful way.
Classy way?

Our ideas of class are obviously very different.
ok, the marketing is totally rediculous (if not unique to the medium), but the game is tackling issues on commitment and infidelity.
