Oh and just to hijack my own thread cause I'm gonna go to sleep soon :p Does anyone else think Half-Life 2 was over rated? It was an awesome game with great production values, but a number of publications, I quote, called the game "The greatest game ever made". What it did it did brilliantly, but what it did had been done many times before. Meanwhile a game like Farcry which was technologically more advanced and introduced the new concept of a more open world shooter got hardly as much hype.
Not at all ^_^, when it came out it was literally the greatest thing ever, I was only 11 at the time but I remember watching my brothers play it once and then again and then again. it was one of those games that's so good it transcends the bar for good games and establishes itself a genre king, faults and all.

Yahtzee acts as a hype shield for me. If i'm hyped for a game i'll watch his review and be able to see more honesty behind other reviews. That is, if i haven't bought the game i'm hyped for already.

No, he's right. Everybody takes ZP too seriously. It's not so much a review so much as entertaining nitpicking... Yahtzee has said so himself. I love the show, seriously, but I can tell the difference between Yahtzee just nitpicking and trying to make us laugh, and having a serious complaint that we should pay attention to.

When in doubt, refer to Extra Punctuation. If he reiterates a point he made in the last video, it's important to him. If not, he's probably just screwing with you. Easy peasy.

Hah, I really love how Ben does his reviews. Especially the one on EVE, since I play that, and totally had an "I C wut u did thar" moment. xD

Don't read the comments and just enjoy the videos then ;o)
lol I do, but I like to see what other peoples opinions are on the game, and generally wading through the comments all you see are people who haven't played it blindly agreeing with yahtzee, and then flame wars starting up between fanboy factions. It's rather sad :(

I do remember the game being awesome when it first came out, just been so long ago XD It might be since I've played episode 1 and 2 more recently I'm kinda judging HL2 more by the current times then how it was back when it came out. I am hoping Valve up the ante a bit in Episode 3 though, or release Portal 2 quicker :)

It is impressive though that given its about ~six years old and yet it still racks high up against the current modern games.
