Wasn't Liam Neeson considered to play Abe at one point? Or was that for the other Abraham Lincoln movie?

You're thinking of the one where the confederates kidnap Mrs. Lincoln and Abe goes to get her before they can bring her down the Mississippi to ransom off for victory. I never got why his suit was leather but I loved when he's on the riverboat and the guy's like "The south shall rise again!" Then he throws him into the big paddles on the back and says "Not after that." It's like, ZING!

Wait, Adrien Brody? He so has got to be the one for this part.

Don't believe me? The universe demands it!

So when everyone is assuming this will be a rubbish Hollywoodised adaptation...did they miss the part where the original author wrote the script?

Though why Tim Burton has to be involved at all is beyond me.

I think Adrien Brody has got what it takes.
Also he somehow looks a little weird, just what an Abe needs.

Well it is good to hear some attention for the rights to this movie, as it sounds like it can hit its feet well enough. Hopefully this will be worth it, especially considering what is going on with that "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies film." Honestly, Natalie Portman dropping the starring role for a stupid Superman movie!?? Garrrh!!! Are they trying to fit every single super hero within a record time span or something?[footnote]I really, really do not like Superman. Granted I don't like superheroes/comics off the bat, but I'm especially wary of any film adaptions given the trend that parallels the video game's attempting to mimic WWII, then Halo, and now Call of Duty. But hey, that's just my subjective (flame shield) view...[/footnote] Ranting aside, about that quagmire, I'd like to see an Abraham Lincoln that is mature enough to pull off the venerable badassry required of the role.

To me though, some of those frontrunners sound like rather poor choices for Abraham Lincoln because they lack the right appearance, age, and gruffness. I'd prefer someone like Liam Nielsen who has action movies under his belt and can pull off a serious and more awe-inspiring persona. Taken + Vampires sounds like a better direction than a peculiarly young guy with a beard, but Liam Nielsen was just one example.

No matter though, I now want to see this movie, but I do not think that I would be able to look at anything with Brody quite the same after Splice.

Now excuse me, I believe that memory just made me want to go run through a car wash to clean off the ewwwwwwwww that has resurfaced...

I would watch this movie for the sheer amount of "OMG lolz" that will come even if the movie is terrible.
