"The Treyarch studio, which made this year's game, has done better than what the Infinity Ward studio could achieve a year ago," said Jean-Bernard Lévy, Chairman and CEO of Activision's parent company Vivendi. "We have reconstructed Infinity Ward. We have been very happy with the way we have been able to reconstruct it."
It would be more accurate to say:
"Treyarch, which modded and re-released last year's game, did better because of brand recognition and word of mouth sales. Infinity Ward is now a burnt-out husk of a company that we filled with strawberry jam and wrapped in masking tape. But we're very happy with the result; they're perfectly happy to work for peanuts compared to the profits we turn."

Treyarch are capable game developers. Thats not a secret. But As long as a studio OTHER than Infinity Ward works on a game in the Call of Duty franchise.... All they will be doing in my eyes is standing on the shoulders of their predecessors.

it would be funny if treyarch suddenly got gutted also
It would. But it looks like Treyarch is going to act like good little boys and girls and obey the labyrinth of oppressive rules Daddy has made up.
they got really lucky that infinity ward left them with such a solid basic game, really all they have to do is insert new things and not fuck up the gameplay and they will at least have good multiplayer

This quote fills me with dread. For one, Treyarch hasn't done better than Infinity Ward 'could have' a year ago. Last I checked, Modern Warfare 2 is still higher rated than Blops, and has sold more copies than Blops as well. (let's not forget that MW2's story & weapon selection is comprehensible)

For two, saying that they're 'reconstructed' Infinity Ward and that they're happy with the results of this 'reconstruction' makes me think that these new people (if they are people) are mindless Activision yes men.

Reconstruct. Reconstructed.

That's just creepy.

I like the dig at Infinity Ward the CEO threw in there. "Treyarch's done better than Infinity Ward did a year ago!" Perhaps it was because IW did so well, with the franchise it created, that allowed Treyarch follow suit? Hrmmm? Just perhaps, Jean-Bernard?

COD is basically Fifa or Madden at this point. They release one pretty much every year and nothing changes except character names.

I mean, they're technically solid and I'm sure fans will enjoy them, but it's just so... unambitious.
