What does the "free PSN" have anything to do with it? Does XBLA give them money to run servers on their service? o_O

I think it was a rebuttal to the idea that Activision was breaking the law.
does make more sense to think of it that way, I can't imagine Activision would be that stupid to take down servers to their current cash cow. its just fiscally irresponsible.

On that note, "The publishers have the right to shut down the servers for their game at any time as well which based on the number of reported posts from users may be a viable solution over the free PSN." in the context of that sentence is a threat. o_O
It is a threat.

And to the first point, it isn't impossible. Or they could be implying a paid for service is worth more than a free service, and you get what you pay for.

Yes, it's true that they could shut them down. They are certainly legally entitled and no one expects that the servers will be up forever. In that sense, it is a statement of fact. But being a statement of fact doesn't prevent a statement from being threatening.

Suggesting that it isn't a threatening statement of fact is akin to suggesting that when someone says "I could kill you right now. No one would ever know. I have a knife in my pocket. It would only take a few minutes to hide your body" they aren't making a threat.

So of course it was a threat. It was saying "Fine, if you want to keep complaining about the way my kickball game is going, I'm taking my ball and going home." Let's not pretend like the guy was so stupid that he didn't know how such a statement would be taken. Legal/Semantic Protip: if you think everyone would be threatened by your statement, you are, by definition, making a threat.

On the other hand, giving actual weight to the statements of Customer Service Representative #427 is incredibly stupid. I imagine said CSR no longer works for Activision or at least no longer speaks with customers. I fail to see how this is even remotely newsworthy.

Fully 100% agree with you mate, this guy just sounds like hes trying to stir up shit to get his way. I hate customers like this, I'm more willing to help and go the extra mile for someone who co-operates and understands, rather than someone who swears at me and abuses me, that kind of customer just makes me want to abuse back (and sometimes i do) even though i shouldn't.

I sorta figured after a month of playing the game religiously, that Activision wasn't going to fix the connection issues in Black Ops.

Which sucks, because I really like it.

All I can do is call attention again to one of my favorite authors here at the escapist:

Good ol' Shamus "Let Freedom Ring" Young

Everything would be better if we controlled the servers [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/experienced-points/8098-Experienced-Points-Whats-Wrong-with-Xbox-Live]

Sony: so if you PAY for your online services in PSN...all will be fixed with PSN+

2 things to go through.

1 - that user agreement for online play? Yeah, that one you don't read every time you go onto the game. Turns out this is all covered there, as they really do reserve the right to shut down the servers at any time they feel like without anyone being able to do a damn thing about it. Unfortunate, but if you don't like it don't support it.

2 - Who the hell would play CoD without an online function? That'd be the most shallow game ever.
