When they stop shutting down parts of gaming history then yes maybe I may buy there products again
Ok, they're big and succesfull. That doesn't take away they're still "mercilessly screwing over their customers" and "kotick's an arrogant dick", wich makes them hatable.JDKJ said:You left out the "big and successful" part I said couldn't be easily divorced from the other parts.DoctorPhil said:Thank's for agreeing with us, we do indeed have reason to hate them according to you. After all, they're mercilessly screwing over their customers and Kotick's an arrogant dick like you're saying.JDKJ said:Activision got big and successful by repeatedly and mercilessly screwing over their customers and Kotick's an arrogant dick because he's sittin' on top of a big, successful company.flaming_squirrel said:I never hated Activision for their size and success, hated Kotick for being an arrogant dick and the company for repeatedly and mercilessly screwing over their customers.Amrich does make a good case: It is very easy to think of Activision as an evil empire, and Kotick as some fiendish despot, just because of the publisher's size and success
We need more CEO's like the guy from Tripwire, nerdy, ex-modders who make games because they enjoy them and so treat their community and fans with a degree of respect.
You've used that trick, too?! Push the fault offa you and onto the other person. Works like a charm, don't it? It's No. 3 on my Top Ten List of Tricks.TheAmazingHobo said:Ah, yes, the best way towards a better image is honest conversation.
Such as a conversation that consists of you constructing made-up reasons why people hate you, while not even adressing ONE substantial complaint that people usually bring forth against you.
Reminds me of the last honest conversation I had with my girlfriend. She was shouting at me for sleeping for her sister and I told her to calm down, because her problem is obviously simply that my **** is too large for her.

What an absurd statement. Are you suggesting that Lamborghini, Ferrari, or Bugatti make more money than Honda? Or are you suggesting that only rich people buy Activision products? Do you have a point, or are you just continuing your "haters gonna hate" troll theme?JDKJ said:Market share may be irrelevant. Honda's share of the market for automobiles probably surpasses that of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Bugatti combined. But no one's gonna hate on you for driving a Civic.Braedan said:I think we're on different pages, I was going by market share, with you going by net worth. Either way, you're right, haters gunna hate, regardless of who does what.JDKJ said:You might as well compare my money to Warren Buffet's money.Braedan said:No they aren't Microsoft big, but I guess I was giving an example in a specific field.JDKJ said:But if the theory that the bigger you get, the more haters come crawling outta the woodwork is valid, ain't nobody gonna hate on Valve. They ain't big. Not in the Apple, Google, Microsoft, Sony sense of big. Let 'em get that big and watch the haters hate. Haters gonna hate. That's what haters do: they hate.
In cell phones though, I haven't seen any rage towards Nokia, even though they were running away with the cellphone market. I do see a fair bit for Apple though.
Apple ended its most recent quarter with nearly $66 billion in cash, increasing its war chest by an astounding $6.1 billion in just three months. Their cash pile is worth more than the combined market capitalization of Nokia, Research In Motion and Motorola Mobility.
Sixty-six billion in cash -- and that's just counting the cash -- buys a lotta hate. Haters gonna hate. That's what haters do: they hate.
If you read the entire discussion between Braedan and I, hopefully you'll see where there was at one point in the discussion a disconnect between us in that he was relating company size to market share while I was relating company size to net worth. The post that you quote me on was intended to illustrate my position that market share isn't as relevant as net worth because it is possible for a company to gain substantial market share yet not have the kind of net worth that would cause haters to hate on the company. The comparison of Honda to Lamborghini, Ferrari, or Bugatti was a rhetorical device intended to reinforce the notion that notwithstanding Honda's substantial share of the market for automobiles, it is unlikely that driving a thirty thousand dollar Honda Civic will breed hate. But driving a three million dollar Bugatti will certainly breed hate. Why? Because haters gonna hate. That's what haters do: they hate.PhiMed said:What an absurd statement. Annoyance is hate in its embryonic stage. If you fertilize annoyance and give it plenty of sunshine and room in which to grow, eventually it will bloom into hate.Booze Zombie said:Hate implies I go around foaming at the mouth any time something is mentioned (currently, only one person is deserving of a such a response from myself).
I am annoyed by Activision, their plan of just bumping up the cost for a game until it reaches the point that buying a game becomes a religious devotion of money towards your prophet of choice is what annoys me. They can release all of the shitty, well-selling games that they like, however, it's trying to increase the overall price of games that I think is both ineffective as a money making strat (volume of sale increases as price decreases) and kind of dickish.
Point is, I don't hate on Bungie and whoever makes the Barbie and My Little Ponie games, I'm sure as Hell not wasting my precious RAAAAAAAGGGGEEEE hormones on Activision, either.
Perhaps "annoyed" was also the wrong word, "I take issue with that one thing they're doing"?JDKJ said:Annoyance is hate in its embryonic stage. If you fertilize annoyance and give it plenty of sunshine and room in which to grow, eventually it will bloom into hate.
What? I hate activision because they make shit games. They absolutely ruined CoD, nowadays it's just a half-broken FPS staggering about waiting for it's SP to finally drop off and it's sales to plummet.
I don't love Activision, but I can't say I hate them. Reactions towards Activision are always fun to read, though.
If people didn't buy their crap they wouldn't make it. Apparently there's a demand for sub-par sequels being pumped out every year and Activision is just meeting it. Nothing evil about that.Quaidis said:People are going to hate Activision for what they do. They could go saving puppies from shelters, but the thing is they wont. They've got too much time making sequels and driving good games into the ground. They want nothing more than to milk every drop from the bloated cow called the Gaming Industry.
So stop pretending you're not a woefully unsympathetic organization, Activision. Just stuff it and go on being hated. The more you man up to the fact that you're hurting the game industry, the more people will just accept you for who you are.
