Well, we had good run Call of Duty. However, everything must end one way or another, and this is indeed the end.

Farewell.

Seriously, how would a Call of Duty action-adventure game work? They're making it as such!

Oh huzzah, so they plan to shed more light for a larger audience. Frankly, the last thing CoD needs right now is any light.

Bear in mind that the knives in MW2 were one-hit kills- compared the USP.45, which took at least two headshots to kill. Now imagine swords- like a MW2 knife, but with over twice the range- with the Commando perk it'll be anarchy. :D

Broaden the audience? Really?

Bobby Kotick, if you do anything to ruin Call of Duty, it's war.
Ever played Modern Warfare 2 on the PC?

Ultimately, this is not a good sign.

To me only CoD:UO and CoD:MW are the top of the Call of Duty games. Everything else was shit.

Broaden audience....

Am I the only one thinking we'll be seeing a COD version of Halo Wars?
That's exactly what I visualized. I don't think they'll be watering it down, but changing the core ideas. Everyone here is so scathing and sceptical..

Pretty much. As I've already said, Sledgehammer are working on an action-adventure version of Call of Duty. I'm confused to exactly how that will work, but I have to admit that it sounds interesting.

to be read: Activision is turning Call of Duty into farmville.

Housewives and grannies will want to play it
Somehow I read that as "Activision is turning Call of Duty(ers) into females."

Well that would be one way to broaden the audience... yes, that was a horrifically bad pun.

MW2 was the most successful entertainment product in history wasn't it?
How could they possible appeal to a wider audience?
I've got it.

Coming soon to a Wii near you, Call of Duty: Lifestyle Edition.
Now you too can be as fit as an SAS commando. Ever wonder how Captain Price keeps that moustache so trimmed?
Wonder no more!
Also included, how to have your own Soap mohawk!

I'm feeling the general consensus, that Activision is starting to squeeze CoD like they squeezed Guitar Hero to a citrusy pulp. It's a sad thing, Call of Duty was a good franchise.

HO GOD!!!... Robert Pattingson and Kristen Stewart will be providing the voices... The game will be about sparkling vampires growling and being dull on a battle field. Hahaha just kidding though this is what came to my mind when they said Broaden the audience. I don't see why they should. MW2 sold brilliantly, did they not hear that old saying?... if it's no broken then don't fix it?.

Infinity Ward is worse than dead, it is haemorrhaging talent and leadership. This happens to studios all the time and I suspect the same will happen here.

One thing is for sure, it is 6 months since MW2 came out that should have been spent on a making a new game. Now IW not only has to pull itself together, reshuffle and rehire but also come up with a game in 18 months an likely any well laid plans walked out the door with West and Zampella.

Infinity Ward has released a new game every 2 years since 2003, if they want to continue that trend and release a game in 2011 then it is likely going to be an extremely rushed job. Hopefully Sledgehammer will take that winter-2011 slot and give IW the time it doubtlessly needs.

COD is not going to be a dead franchise... worse than that it will just become mundane and flounder in mediocrity.
