If they lost in courst, doesn't it mean what they were attempting is illegal? As in, Activision tried to increase revenue through illegal activities? Isn't that like stealing somebody's stuff? Doesn't this mean they're an illegalcompany like Ubrella except better at turning a profit?

to think bungie is joining with them! oh god!
/facepalm. Bungie is not joining them, they're exploiting and abusing them. They're taking their money, making their game their way, they're in charge of everything and Acti just gets to pay them and in return get some of the money. It's the best relationship possible, on Bungie's side. Acti is actually getting screwed, which is awesome.
oh, ok then. go bungie!

Hilarious, fuck Activision though, they really are giving massive corporations a horrible name (not that they didn't have a bad name already). I'm never buying Activision games again...

Haha, Activision is so comically evil it is funny.

Honestly, they have every bad guy cliche in the book down.

They need to fire Bobby Kotick already D:

Then maybe Activision can become good once more.
The problem here is that the man has run a very successful company. A poor corporate image is only a problem if people stop buying the product - something that people simply are not currently willing to do it would seem. Besides, just check the latest Fortune listing of successful CEOs in the Tech space. You'll find Kotick figures prominently.

He's slowly losing sales.

Again, if people do this en-masse then you will inevitably force a change. It happened with EA but the process took years. Activision is only a few years into their evil overlord phase. My personal policy of not buying an Activision product new was breached when I decided that I had to play StarCraft 2. It is the only new product of theirs I have purchased in nearly two years.

Also I bought Singularity... it's k cause it was awesome.

Maybe in a few years they'll follow EA's new road... I completely support EA now and try and buy their games new because I like what they're doing.

Personally all this bad press to me, seems to help Activision. When you have something out there so often be it negative or positive people will consider it and say someone says a game they made is horrible because kotick stole the image of mickey mouse, people would buy the game just to see. If Activision was allowed to stay out the media a lot of the issues will drop off and the attention will fall on them to make games that we care about, and then the consumers to decide if the value is worth it or not. Then again this is just my opinion.

How long can Kotick keep his job? The board at activision obviously condones or indeed encourages his management stlye and decisions, but hide behind relative anonimity. Don't expect wholesale changes from acti, event if Kotick goes.

"While that may be true, they can earn more money by being evil."

I feel like this attitude is ultimately short-sighted. Kotick's ideas are extremely profitable in the short term, but the long-term ramifications are hardly beneficial to the industry as a whole. Overstepping, overextending, and overmonetizing - these things generate immense growth right up to the point where it all implodes under the weight of its own greed.

Bobby's part of the "collapse and rebound" cycle, and that's not something we should be reinforcing with our purchases.

In my opinion.
