Step 1 for Activision= STOP BEING EVIL!
Correction: Step 1 for Activision = FIRE ROBERT "THE DEVIL" KOTICK

Seriously, he is the whole reason why gamers everyone are in bad blood with Activision. In all fairness, Activision itself does not make that bad of games, it's the damn polocy and evilness-ess of the friggin' CEO.

This will be a good way to improve your image.

Stop counting your fucking money and create a GOOD game, and I'm saying good as you ovbiously can't make anything better then that with all your failing studios at the moment.

I'm all for them improving their image but it is going to take alot of hard work. I don't think consumers are as loyal to brands anymore since the recession.

"What? They think we're evil? And that I'm a cat? I'm not a cat. We are clearly good and you just hate us because we're the best. Did I mention I'm not a cat?"

You know, a long long time ago I used to consider Activision my second favorite developer, and then when Blizzard got together with them it was a "oh boy!" moment. Now....MW2 did it for me, and if it wasn't for Blizzard being part of them I would never buy one of their games again. Now please please Activision, don't ruin my favorite company, I grew up with them! I love blizzard games, don't ruin Diablo 3 or Starcraft 2! Well, they already kinda did, as Starcraft 2 itself is fun, but Battlenet 2.0 is a horrible mess :(

Activision doesn't have an "image problem" it has an EVIL problem.

I am AMAZED that this guy can be so BLATANT about calling it an "image problem". No. You have done wrong, the solution is to admit your shortcomings, fix them or do better next time.

how fucked up is it to openly admit you are hated but brush it off as:
(1) "we have done no wrong"
(2) "our customers are just deluded"
(3) "they hate us just because we're number 1" (boasting, paranoia, accusation of jealously)
(4) openly admit they will fix this with JUST spin and PR. How patronising, as if we just need some "re-education"

Is Activision TRYING to do the wrong thing!?!? Is this guy trolling? Who is he talking to, who is he trying to impress?

They are haemorrhaging developers and talent, and what self-respecting developer would want to work for such a Publisher?!? Bad business. Bad people.
You actually typed every single point I was thinking and was going to post myself, and I couldn't have said it any better.

Also, he could start improving image by getting rid of that ridiculous haircut.
(Man, I usually don't insult peoples physical appearance, but geez...what a douche.)

Amongst many hardcore gamers, Activision has a bit of an image problem, and this is something that COO Thomas Tippl is keen to remedy. Tippl blames much of the bad feeling on Activision's standing as the largest publisher around, saying that it's something that anyone in that position has to come to terms with.

"Obviously, we stay connected to what's going on in the communities, so we're not ignorant that there's a very vocal minority out there that has some very strong feelings," he said. "Whenever you become number one in any industry, you automatically get a target painted on your back. You've got to be able to live with that."
An interesting theory, but no.

Why Activision Let Go Of 'Ghostbusters' And '50 Cent' Games [http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/11/05/why-activision-let-go-of-ghostbusters-and-50-cent-games]
The games Activision Blizzard didn't pick up, he said, "don't have the potential to be exploited every year on every platform with clear sequel potential and have the potential to become $100 million dollar franchises. ... I think, generally, our strategy has been to focus... on the products that have those attributes and characteristics, the products that we know [that] if we release them today, we'll be working on them 10 years from now."

Activision's Bobby Kotick Hates You [http://www.geeks.co.uk/7282-activision%E2%80%99s-bobby-kotick-hates-developers-innovation-cheap-games-you] or Activision games to bypass consoles [http://www.gamespot.com/news/6226758.html?tag=latestheadlines;title;1]
Talking about upcoming and expensive Activision titles such as Modern Warfare 2, Kotick said: "if it was left to me, I would raise the prices even further."
Kotick's goal over the past 10 years has been - you couldn't make this up - "to take all the fun out of making video games." How? By instilling a culture of "skepticism, pessimism, and fear" amongst the company's staff based around the economic depression and an incentive program that rewards "profit and nothing else".
------
Yes, your a business. We get that. But EVERY statement that you make and most of your actions make you sound like evil incarnent. I'm mean "skepticism, pessimism, and fear"? That is the workplace your promoting? And you want me to support it? No. No and Fuck Off.

Fire Bobby Kopr**k that would clear the air alot.
You really think so? Some other non-gaming CEO will be hired and do the exact same thing. Just be smart Activision, dont let Kotick talk to anyone until its been approved by the PR dept.
Why not he has very little creditability these days, a large amount of the public hate him, if everything he says has to be first run by PR then hes no longer suitable for the job, hes a liability.

My prediction eventually he will be either asked on the quiet to leave(along with a hefty pay off)or he will be openly removed and replaced with a more likeable figure head.

Hes just a over paid bs'er.

So, Activision can go ahead and ruin Call of Duty, and asks for gamers' apologies?

FUCK THEM, I say.

Step 1 - Stop backstabbing your own developers... Which helps with the second step, which is...
Step 2 - Start making games that don't suck again.
Step 3 - Make sure Kotick keeps his mouth shut in any public setting. I know you can't "fire" him, but at least make sure he keeps his trap closed so he doesn't come off as anymore of a giant douchebag than he already does.
Step 4 - Stop fucking over your costumers by removing things like dedicated servers and mod tools so you can extort people for paid crap.
Step 5 - Stop being greedy dicks and trying to inflate prices.

That's essentially it.
Pretty much what he said.
If this becomes a poll, I would like to preregister my vote to this as well.

Activision Wants to Improve Image

Activision's chief operating officer Thomas Tippl says that his company would like to improve its relationship with gamers.

Tippl did say however that Activision could communicate better with the gamer community, but that for some people it would never be enough: "There are many things we can probably do better in the way we communicate with the communities so that we don't run the risk that certain things get pulled out of context and blown out of proportion."

"Now, can we do a better job from a PR and community management perspective? I think we can. We are focused on doing that, but you will always have a vocal minority that no matter what you do they're not going to be happy."
