Actually his name was Jerome Silberman Gene Wilder was a stage name that over the years everyone came to know him as
Somebody needs to watch Blazing Saddles again...

I love how a movie that addresses and mocks racism would be considered unacceptably racist by many today.


See No Evil, Hear No Evil is better on a second watch.
Mel Brooks clearly stated that he'd never get away with that in this day and age. However, apart from being a genius, Mel has the advantage of making such unforgettable movies that he and those who starred in it will live in infamy forever. Blazing Saddles is basically like art. You don't have to like it, but you do have to accept it.
