God yes. I don't even watch Adam Sandler films, but I'm deathly sick of seeing previews for them nearly every time I go to the movie theater. It's like he's desperately trying to stay relevant by churning out tripe as fast as possible.DizzyChuggernaut said:I absolutely detest Adam Sandler, Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Owen Wilson and all the rest of THAT crowd. You know who I'm talking about. The smug assholes that play themselves in pretty much every single film, which are apparently "comedies" but end up being 80 minutes of the American equivalent of "cheeky banter".
I'd take Nicolas Cage's insanity over their dull delivery any day.
I think the ron burgundy crew are all chunks of the brown schtuff, myself.DizzyChuggernaut said:I absolutely detest Adam Sandler, Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Owen Wilson and all the rest of THAT crowd.
Well I suppose he isn't as immediately annoying, but I can't say the guy's a good actor. There are plenty of actors that play every single role as pretty much the same person, but most of them have some sort of charm or defining quality (take most 80s/90s action heroes for example). I know Owen Wilson is typecast as the "everyman", but there's nothing really there to relate to.thaluikhain said:Very much yes, though I didn't think Wilson was on the same level as Sandler. I've not seen him in much, though.
Honestly I think comedic actors like Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Steve Carell are ten thousand leagues above Adam Sandler and his ilk. They're not always cast well (often they're cast quite poorly and make a mockery of themselves), but in the right movie they can really shine. Oh and they can actually act dramatically when the right scene calls for itsky pies said:I think the ron burgundy crew are all chunks of the brown schtuff, myself.
That's cheating, nobody likes those assholes.DizzyChuggernaut said:I absolutely detest Adam Sandler, Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Owen Wilson and all the rest of THAT crowd. "Wow".
Since, no one has corrected your spelling yet. Not unless, you meant Porn Star Matthew McNaughty? "Alright, alright, alright. Let's take those panties off."sky pies said:Here's a bit of light relief from my other current thread about poverty: Which actors really work on your nerves? Really rub you the wrong way?
This subject comes to mind as I sit here watching the opening credits to A Time To Kill, the 1996 John Grisham novel adaptation starring Matthew McNaughty (I may not have got the spelling right there)
I have the same issue with Yuri Lowenthal and Liam O'Brien. No variation to their performances, with Lowenthal being the generic young man and O'Brien being the generic effeminate man, and they are in bloody everything.Neverhoodian said:Since most responses have been movie actors, here's one from voice acting:
Steven Blum. It's not that I dislike the man or his voice, but he's waaaaaaaay too overused. It's gotten to the point that I can't even suspend my disbelief with his characters any longer, they're just "Steve Blum as *insert gruff man here.*"
Eh, I kind of consider her a female Keanu Reeves, in that she doesn't do "emotional range" much in her acting. Personally, I don't really have a problem with her as an actress, even though I despise the Twilight movies she's been in. I consider that more a problem with the material than with her.Catfood220 said:Surprised no one has mentioned Kristin Stewart. The woman cannot act, to the point I believe that she is a cyborg sent back in time to destroy acting (in much the same way that Katie Perry is a cyborg sent back in time to destroy music). I have seen dead people with more emotion on their face.
And she isn't even that pretty to look at. I know that's a really shallow thing to say, but I can forgive a fair bit of bad acting so long as the actress is pretty.
That film wasn't ENTIRELY Cera's fault, but given what a woeful miscasting he was it's hard not to pin it on him anyway. Ruined a perfectly excellent set of graphic novels with an absolutely wretched film.william1657 said:Michael Cera.
I just didn't like him back when he was doing terrible "comedies", but when I saw him in Scott Pilgrim I started really disliking him.
