Adam Sessler

So, I couldn't quite figure out where to put this since it wasn't exactly about games. But my question is simple, what are your thoughts on this man? I personally think he is the worst video game reviewer since... Well I don't know how to finish that sentence because I usually use Adam Sessler. I tend to see that he blames his 'goofiness' when confronted with the fact people don't like him.

I first started to dislike him when I ran through a few of his 'Soapboxes' and I finally developed a hope that he would be fired soon when G4 finally converts to MTV status and removes anything related to video games with another show about bodily fluids, boobies, cars, or violence.

Adam Sessler called GTA4 a revolution.. Even if you absolutely LOVE the game you must admit its not a revolution because it doesn't change much from status quo.

So what are your opinions?

To be serious, I wouldn't say I hate the guy but if I saw him running down the street on fire like Richard Pryor I wouldn't put him out.

Did you notice the 'To be serious' on the second line of that statement? Implying the first wasn't serious.

Also, had you read all of Taxi Driver's post you would have seen that he had quoted before you edited.

I dunno, I kind of like him. He's always willing to stand up to Jack Thompson and other true idiots on various news shows (almost to the point where he and Jack have a vendetta against each other) and makes his case well when called upon.

I don't always agree with his reviews, but reviews are SUBJECTIVE. His opinion of GTA4 was colored by his own experiences and preferences, so getting onto him just becaue he saw the storyline and characterizations in the game as revolutionary and you saw the gameplay as being status quo seems to be missing the point.

I've followed him since the TechTV / Extended Play era and I can see how people who see him as he is now, out of context, wouldn't like him. His original draw was that he was this irreverent everyman sort who was just sharing his nerd passion with the world, like everyone on TechTV in those days. But anyone who looked into it realized all the reviews were prepped by a staff of writers at the station, so in reality he was just a goofy blond-haired mouthpiece. Which was okay, back when TechTV was nothing but goofy mouthpieces making fart jokes, and Leo Laporte.

The fact that he's one of the few original TechTV personalities still at G4 tells me he must be something of a corporate fluffer, because everyone who stood up for themselves when the station changed is long gone (see Leo Laporte). Now Sess's fan base is probably just people like me who fondly remember TechTV, and Sess and his angry nerd rants is one of the few links to that past. But outside of that, he really is just Olivia Munn without the lady bumps.

Go to IGN's/Gamespot's/someotherwebsite's review of GTA4 and say that again. I thought it was universally acknolaged that GTA4 was the "best game evar"?

The Sess man is definately not the best reviewer, but I personally don't care for their reviews anyway I just watch them to kill time. He's a very intelligent man both from what I've heard and some interviews i've seen of him.

Besides, I just watch X-play for the GAming update, hands on demos, previews, All accesses, and some other stuff. I couldn't give two shits about their reviews.

I remember that. Thompson didn't even answer the first question, he just went on about how he defended the kid and his family or something.

I've always loved him. He's very funny and entertaining. His reviews on G4 aren't neccessarily his, I'm sure they have a bunch of writers, he's just the voice.

i've always liked him, i stopped watching techtv after the merger cause well it became all about video games and dropped all the good shows it had on it

the reviews back in the xplay days were actually pretty good and as far as i know were a mix of a few ppl's ideas and they always had some good humour to it

Well, I may be a bit biased, but I don't see what is so bad. I never read a review that was devoid of hyperbole, and he often supports his arguements well, so I have no problem. In fact I am a fan. In before the inevitable flaming.

I don't know, he seems a bit pompous to me. But that's just a vibe I get from him. However, I'd say that the channel he's on sucks, so that may be giving khaz a bit of a negative view on him.

I'm not sure this is just what I think. I can't look into you're mind so don't flame me just for my opinion.

He's funny. Decent reviewer. Well a Decent reviewer by comparison to others on X-Play. I still miss when it was a funny review show.
