I was wrong in how I chose to live my life, and I've lost almost everything because of that.

I used to think most people were monumentally stupid, stubborn beings. I was wrong. Taken individually, most people are fairly intelligent and quite reasonable... it's only when a person strongly identifies themselves with a group, taking on that group's values unthinkingly that they become stupid. I realized this after it happened to me.
Please tell me that you fell in with a misanthropic crowd. That would be poetic.
Nope, I'm still a bit of a misanthrope myself. What I did was fall for a little good ol' fashioned military indoctrination.

I was wrong about MW2. I loved CoD4 to death and was super psyched for MW2. It ripped out my heart, tore it to pieces, and burned those pieces. :? (
I feel your pain.

I thought I wouldn't still be writing this fucking 5,000 word essay at 3:57am... Perhaps if I didn't keep looking at threads on 'the escapist' I wouldn't be wrong!

I once thought I was wrong, it turned out wrong was me!

This made sense in my head as a Chuck Norris type claim.

I'll admit. I had thought that Rebbecca Mayes Muses was the worst show to ever be on the Escapist. Jimquisition has changed that for me.
You probably never saw game dogs.
Second season wasn't bad. Then it ended abruptly and violently with no explanation whatsoever.

I thought I might stop hearing about hockey quite as much around here after the final hope for Leafs finally died.

Shit, was I wrong.

I'm afraid to test that one for myself; if I ended up liking it, I'd have to kick my own ass.

Putting aside my sexually-ignorant middle school years, Monster Hunter really is fun to me. I didn't think I would like it.

I was also wrong about Scott Pilgrim vs The World (the film) being a stupid Michael Cera film. It's a misunderstood Michael Cera film. One of his better moments. He's still a talentless piece of garbage, but at least it was entertaining.

I originally thought Azumanga Daioh was just for weird otaku's and young girls.
I found this somewhat baffling. Mind telling me how you got that impression in the first place?

OT: I was wrong for many years when I claimed I would never dance. The only kind of dancing I knew was the spastic, drunken limb-flailing my friends do. I've since learned classical dance and love it. I've gone from "will not dance, ever" to "above all, I'm a dancing man".

I used to think that the Soviet Union was cool. A few history books later (written by Russians and Ukranians themselves) shows me that as bad as the US can be, the USSR was worse in just about every conceivable way. While I still have issues with capitalism, I realize now that Communism is probably not the answer, and we will probably never have a "utopia".

Other things I was wrong about:

1) People who swear a lot aren't stupid or crass - they've just been bought up in a family in which swearing was normal and it's a normal part of their speech pattern
2) I now realize that mindless shooters like Doom can be very, VERY fun to play.
3) Your political opponents aren't evil demons. Mostly they want the same things you want. They just have a very different idea of how to go about getting it. There are few monsters in this world, and what monsters there are, are distributed equally amongst the left and the right, the religious and the irreligious.

Not even trollin, this is the most common sense and logic I have seen in one post in a long time. I applaud you good sir or madam. I swear a lot because over half my life was spent in the Carolinas. I picked it up from public school in South Carolina. It is just how I speak, but I can, and often do, completely stop swearing when swearing is inappropriate.

"...even thought you broke my heart and killed me. and tore me to pieces. and threw every piece, into, a fire."

OT now that thats out of the way: i was once under the impression that minecraft was just a 3D art tool. not entirely my fault thought, the escapist kept running articles on it about players building things and i had never heard of the game.

logical conclusion yes? no?

shut up!
