Yeah I see it happening all the time. It's no big deal. Despite being quite arguementative when I first joined up my post count isn't all that high. I've got a busy life at the moment so often find myself snatching time around my schedule to have a gander here. Then, more often than not, my heads too cluttered with other things to form a coherent response to a thread so I don't bother.

Hence I have 1000 something post when I could have 5000 something if I'd put the effort in. Doesn't matter to me, I've made my choice for the moment.

It's about quality, not quantity. I've been here for a few months now, and have spent more time lurking than posting.

I only post on interesting threads which means the lower my post count compared to my time here, only shows how interesting the threads have been recently lol. Only kidding. I just havnt had much time to be on here.

Post count means nothing; it's the amount of time you've spent here and on the forums. It's better to be here for a long time than have a large post count.
But wouldn't that mean you're more of a lurker and wouldn't contribute as much? I see where you're going but Post count does mean something

I've been here for 1 year and I have what, 2000 and over posts? Mine does add up
Well, not counting the amount of posts I've accumulated thanks to the Asylum, I should only have about 3k posts. I've been here a good year and a half.

Lurking definitly does add to the equation, but overall, if you're going to judge someone either their post count or their time on the Escapist, it's much more likely that you'll get better results from relying on age as that is much more relevant to experience.

You might be thinking of Putt Putt travels through time.
THATS THE ONE! I only had the demo, It was on a game i had about an airport, when i was like...5.

Good times, Good Times!
In the game you had, did you travel around the airport with a talking fly? If so, I played a demo of that.

I had Putt-Putt Goes to the Zoo.

I've been here for over a year now (though I've been around the escapist watching videos etc since ZP first started) but compared to people who have been here 2 months I don't have that many posts. It's not about your post count, its about the quality of those posts.

I refuse to answer on the grounds that it may incriminate me.

But I blame good mods, smart members and interesting threads. I only posted this much on one other board, and it was a D&D board where I did a comic for a while, so, yeah.

I saw this thread and thought immediately of this:

I think my post count is relatively low considering the date I joined, but I'd have to look for some other members with a similar join date to compare.

I very rarely post, it took me about a year before i finally decided to create a profile on here in the first place. Considering that I hardly actually use it but the badges are shiny looking to me.

Yeah, I joined in September last year, but I'd been lurking around The Escapist for a loooong time before that, and I don't post too often. Mainly 'cause I lack anything good to say =P

Why is that? If you mean what I think you mean and that is that it's more better to have been active here for a while rather than make 2000 posts in your first week or so here.

I joined Gametrailers in 2006. I learnt a bit about forums there, made about 100 posts. I don't go there anymore, it's too toxic with fanboy propaganda. I love the more mature atmosphere that we seem to have here.

I feel as if I'm on the forums all the time...so I'm confused when I realize that I'm one of the only 2 year members without at least 5000 posts.

*Looks at date and post count*

It took me well over a year to actually post something . . .

My activity seems to have some sort of correlation with the amount of work I have to do, the more work the more if find myself posting here . . . Procrastination FTW!
