Wait...you're saying more information is a bad thing?Dorian6 said:One of the most important things about a story is knowing when it needs to end. Would your enjoyment of the Watchmen really be increased by learning what made The Comedian so dark and cynical? Or how Silk Spectre was pushed into the world of masked adventuring by her mother?

Um...only two of the heroes died in Watchmen. There are still four left.NAHTZEE said:also how is he going to make a sequel? every one comes back to life and gois to fight eveil robot dinosares and evil humans on the plaent zog?
Those things i mentioned are ultimately unimportant in the grand scheme of the story that Moore was telling and are better left to the reader's imagination.BlackWidower said:Wait...you're saying more information is a bad thing?Dorian6 said:One of the most important things about a story is knowing when it needs to end. oh that i know. i was trying to make a point, as the story ended, and a sequel would be retardedBlackWidower said:Um...only two of the heroes died in Watchmen. Okay, fine, but overall, there are probably more stories to tell in the Watchmen universe. Such as: what happened to Rorshorshashor's journal? Did Dan and what's her face continue their crazy vigilantism? Both are sequels. A prequel probably wouldn't work, but if they do release one it's not necessarily a bad idea.Dorian6 said:Those things i mentioned are ultimately unimportant in the grand scheme of the story that Moore was telling and are better left to the reader's imagination.BlackWidower said:Wait...you're saying more information is a bad thing?Dorian6 said:One of the most important things about a story is knowing when it needs to end. Yeah, it ended...on a cliffhanger. Doesn't count. We still don't know if Ozzy Egyptborne's plan worked in the long run, especially considering who has Rorshite's journal.NAHTZEE said:oh that i know. i was trying to make a point, as the story ended, and a sequel would be retardedBlackWidower said:Um...only two of the heroes died in Watchmen. Interesting...I've never seen anyone share my opinion on Watchmen before. Overrated book, movie was better.Spacefly said:I didn't really like the Watchmen book but really liked the film, so in a way this is good news... No more of Moore's Watchmen. But on the other hand... Its just news that I really don't care about. If they make another watchmen film/comic, I'll probably give it a look if it gets as much hype as the original but I'm not awaiting anything new...
I never had anyone agree with me on that matter either. I felt the book was too full of itself, as though the creators had it in their heads that it was the createst comic ever before they even started. To quote Peter Griffen "It insists upon itself". The movie didn't have that problem. It didn't take itself seriously. It left out all the bits that I felt were bad in the comic. I really need to watch it again though. I havn't seen it since it came out in the cinema.BlackWidower said:Interesting...I've never seen anyone share my opinion on Watchmen before. In that case, I am not surprised that he is not interested in monetary pursuit.
A lot of fan's hated the film because it changed the odd thing. Pretty much most of the film is true to the book with odd changes here and there so it fits on screen better. But the endings are completely different. Which is were I think most people drew the line.
In the book Vedit's engineers some giant creature, with tentacles and a giant eye that he unleashes on the world. People think it's some alien and all band together over it creating unified peace and what have you. I think the whole point of it was that the entire book had been so realistic as far as superhero comics go. So the end was meant to be ridiculous to make the impact of it more unbelievable.
Whilst in the film he engineers those quantum bomb things and destroys parts of the world making it look like Dr Manhattan killed everyone. Again creating unified peace under threat of destruction.
Only I like the films ending better. It's more believable and really makes more of an impact than some genetically modified alien squid rampaging. But most fans and I suspect Moore don't agree.
I haven't read the book in going on 10 years now so if I got some of it wrong people are more than welcome to correct me.
But that's the general gist of it.
