A real poor excuse paid Microsoft spokesperson
Indeedie. Why couldn't they just be honest, "Look, we don't value PC gamers as customers, so kindly go away and buy an XBox 360, and as many games as you physically can so we can open our own mint."

So, Microsoft... Was that whole "Games For Windows" thing just a half-hearted attempt to make the X-Box 360 controller more accepted as a universal control scheme, or what? Because quite frankly, this kind of thing makes it really hard to buy the idea that you have any respect for the PC as a gaming platform at all. Despite, y'know, your freaking near-monopoly on the OS market... You would think you could show the people who provide your bread and butter a little bit more care. Instead of forcing us to buy Vista to get DirectX 10, aborting Halo after a half-assed port of the second game, requiring us to install your stupid social network to play GTA 4, retreating when Shadowrun was a massive failure... I mean, seriously, guys. Is there a Public Relations team working on this segment of the operation at all? Or did those guys all dowse themselves in gasoline and set themselves on fire when they realized it was an unsupported kamikaze mission?

And... it's been said, but it bears repeating... Who the hell are you guys to tell the consumer how and where the game is "best played"? The RIAA thinks music is "best played" off a CD purchased from a store, and so have moved on legal digital distribution options like molasses, to their detriment. The MPAA thinks movies are "best played" on shoebox-sized megaplex theater screens at $10 a pop, and started to be astonished when some movies do better when people can own them for about the same price and watch them at home on plasma TVs and 5.1 speaker systems, or pirate them off the Internet to watch on computer monitors.

You don't have to shower PC gamers with riches. But it would be nice if you wouldn't kick them. I don't know if I would have played Alan Wake one way or another, but Remedy used to be a pretty good PC dev team, and it's a shame to see them walk away.

Huh. Not often you see X360 exclusives that cut out the PC. Microsoft, why can't all your divisions get along?

Oh wait... I'm a mac user!

More and more it is hard to support the need of a two thousand american dollaras pc. Meaning... Look, Alan Wake could use dx11 and it's true potencial, right?! No 'cause now it's not going to be released to pc.

There are a couple of genres that work best on the consoles... racing, fighting games, platformers, that sort of thing. Psychological thrillers and adventure games aren't among them. I'd rather play a game like this is shaping up to be in the privacy of my computer room, not in the middle of my living room where any of my family might be. I'm just not comfortable playing most games in that environment. This is probably going to get a pass unless the game gets some seriously great reviews (I'm talking consistent 9 or 9.5 out of 10 scores). As a PC game, it was a sure buy.

That Microsoft statement was completely vacuous. *Sigh*
What a load of crap. I wonder why they did it really?

If people think the uproar here is bad then they should look everywhere else on the internet.

Anyway, the writing on the wall here was crystal "insult your damn intelligence" clear. Microsoft has stated many times that they have made many games timed 360 exclusive, and 360 exclusive because gamers in Europe would buy a PC version over the 360 version 9 times out of 10, which resulted in less profits because the PC versions of the games aren't overpriced.

So that is why the first Mass Effect was on the 360 first (unlike Mass Effect 2, which was a sequel to a popular game so sales numbers weren't an issue) and that is why Alan Wake is not coming to PC.

As for their crap reason...who cares? They are obviously very self aware, and realize that no matter what reason they give us, we will still be mad because Alan Wake won't be on the PC anymore. They could have said "We didn't release Alan Wake on PC because we realized so many better games were coming out at that time and we didn't want you to waste money on this trash" and we would still be infuriated because this fucking game was marketed as a reason to upgrade to vista for Direct X10 and as a reason to buy a quad core CPU, and is now only coming to the 360.

Really lame. "a more compelling experience" on the 360, i mean geez, they just admitted the PC is more intimate and focused, i thought that would be better fit for a psychological thriller no?

Have you got a source for that? That's most intriguing if it's true.

Luckily this game looks like it will suck. It'll look great sure. I'll only be sad after I see a review. I'm not buying another console.

Unfortunately when I reformatted my computer, I lost my bookmarks as well, but I use to have it bookmarked. I'm sure searching "Microsoft PC version 9 times out of 10" will net you the result. You don't have to just "take my word for it", I don't expect you to, that would be stupid, but I know MS has said that.

Son of a...

Well that's really pissed on my chips. Being denied a game for such a weak-ass reason isnt fun. I was really looking forward to it, seeing as I enjoyed Remedy's other games so much :(

The most compelling way to experience Alan Wake is on the 360? I dunno, I saw lots of aiming that looks like it would be more "compelling" to use a mouse. My eyes are rollin, they's a rollin!

This was a marketing decision to keep the shape of x360 exclusives, and its completely .

How many Xboxes are expected to sale? It has been selling for years.

It just came to a point where no game will improve sales. How many people are left, or expected to buy it?

Maybe Alan Wake can reach PCs next year, so as "gta liberty city episodes" did.
