Aliens Vs Predator Studio Complains About 3 Bad Reviews

The head of Rebellion, Jason Kingsley, said that despite three uncharacteristically bad reviews, Aliens Vs Predator [http://www.amazon.com/Aliens-vs-Predator-Xbox-360/dp/B001TOQ8MU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1279312227&sr=1-1] is actually being reviewed well.

Released on February 16th, Aliens Vs Predator is a shooter set in the world of both the movie franchise. Though it has been generally well received by critics, and our own editor in chief Russ Pitts said that he was presently surprised [http://twitter.com/russpitts/status/9483704476] by the game. As with any game studio head, Jason Kingsley at Rebellion wanted his title to garner good reviews. Unfortunately, he said that there were three very bad reviews which are bringing down the average review score of Aliens Vs Predator. He hopes that will not impact the negotiations of developing a sequel, which he admits are currently taking place with the publisher, Sega.

"The reviews have been mostly good," Kingley said. "We've had three totally shit reviews by some Americans, which is a bit odd. Some of them were inexcusably bad. If you discount those poor reviews AvP is averaging high for us."

Kingsley doesn't mention which reviews were so bad, but a quick glance confirms that the scores have been all over the place. But that hasn't impacted the sales yet, as it has so far sold well, especially in Rebellion's native land.

"We're delighted to see the game shoot to the top of the UK charts. We wanted Aliens Versus Predator to be a critical success as well as a commercial success, which we think we have achieved," Kingsley said.

"We're also in discussions with Sega about ongoing support for AvP, and also about a sequel to the game," he continued. "I won't say what stage those negotiations are in, but we would love to revisit the franchise. Fox are excited about what we're doing, and we feel we've added value to the franchise."

Look for our review later in the week.

you would think rebellion would be used to bad reviews by now, personally i tried the demo and didn't think to much of it, but the marine campaign sounds fun from what i have heard, ill get it once the price can justify buying a game for 1/4th of it.

while looking around on metacritic to see which reviews they where talking about i saw this rather funny and all saying line from Game Revolution:

"you'd probably have more fun being on To Catch a Predator than playing Aliens Vs. Predator."

i can kinda see why rebellion are bitter.

Maybe these reviewers were disgruntled PS3 owners that didn't get to try the demo?

I know I am, which is why I don't even consider buying it.

that's probably the dumbest statement i've ever read.
I was just thinking the same thing, "WW2 was a good war if you discount all the haters." How stupid can you ge-IF I HAVE TO KILL YOU SHEPARD I WILL.

I thought it looked decent. I would have known whether it played well, if the demo would have worked...
As for the complaints about getting a few bad reviews, its bound to happen sometimes.

Awww, cry me a river. I suppose that if you addressed the issues that the crap reviews had, maybe you'd have your critical success.

Seconded. You can't disregard bad scores.

I passed my maths test the other day. As long as you disregard all the questions I got wrong, that is.

Didn't one of those bad reviews complain that the Predator sections where too focused on stealth? Or at least that's what I heard on the Angry Joe show.

Everything is good if you take away everything that made it bad a turd meatball sub would be a good sub if it didn't have the turd on it, but what are you gonna do even if you ignore the smell will still be there. Anyway the game didn't look to good to me anyway better off playing something else like ME2 for the trillionth time.

Well, it's good to see that UK developers are breaking back through...and that's all the good I can say about AvP...

British developers have been developing great games for years.

Oh, I know, but it's good that we're climbing back on top, and not just in the UK.

Umm..What are you talking about? I am a PS3 owner, and I got to play said Demo... Matter of fact its what caused me to buy the game. Is this a region issue? If so, I seriously suggest you make an side account for the country with the demo and try it. Yes, if you download the demo you can use it on your main account.
