All hope rests on Guild Wars 2

Does Guild Wars 2 have a hope of dismantling the mmo mountain that is Wow? Most people who played guild wars either loved it or hated it. The level cap was almost non-existent, you couldn't be another race besides human, and dungeons didn't make an appearance until the latest expansion. However, despite those issues, guild wars did a lot of things right. Par example, the focus was centered far more on player skill and creativity, and less on looking like a walking christmas tree. Classes were varied and unique, and the campaigns could be oddly compelling at times. Not to mention a fairly superb pvp, which was sadly constantly dominated by Koreans every year, leaving us Americans in the dust. Guild Wars 2 plans to do all those things and more, fixing old complaints and all the while keeping its free subscription, no monthly fee. I for one have my fingers crossed five times over, but Wow is a tough goliath to compete with. Your thoughts?

Well if Blizzard releases SC2 before this then they have no chance in the Korean/Asian market which = fail for them.

(Is it seriously their un-offical national sport?)

Even money says Duke Nuk'em Forever will come out before GW2. It's been delayed and I've yet to see any solid information on it.

I'm just going to be straightfoward here and say no Guild Wars 2 has no chance of killing WoW. The only thing that will kill WoW is Wow. I hate this "WoW-killer hype" I honestly do.

Classes were varied and unique, and the campaigns could be oddly compelling at times Indeed. I made a charcater that just stays in Pre-Searing era because I liked it so much. Not to mention a fairly superb pvp, which was sadly constantly dominated by Koreans every year, leaving us North Americans in the dust We Canadians play Guild Wars too in our Igloos. I kid of course. One thing is certain right now. WoW CAN'T be killed, about 3 MMO's I recall tryed to do that(AoC, Waaagh!!! and Vanguard) Now 4 more are on the making (Star wars Old republic MMO, Darkfall, Guild wars 2, Chronicles of Spellborne"). Now I don't say that these 4 won't be popular, but I don't think that they will actually Kill wow, or make it lose players. Thing is, like it or not, wow is the most polished MMO out there, and blizzard has expirience whit these kinda thing's(Yes, the customer Support is....meh, but what other MMO's customer support isn't usually shit?).

People will play these 4, but unless Blizzard decides to make another MMO, WoW won't die.

Guild Wars 2 isn't gonna do anything to WoW. We can only hope that WoW slows down on it's own before GW2 comes out. Plus, there will be a lot of ppl who will hate it off the bat "because it's ripping off of WoW"...which it is. GW2, based on what I've read, is gonna be even more like WoW than it already is. Not that that's a bad thing, but I really hope that they add enough original stuff so that it isn't as noticable.

But, yes, Guild Wars 2 does have a better chance of beating WoW than a lot of other games do.

What's wrong with people from Korea?
Nothing is wrong with them per se. It just seems that the nation on the whole produces amazing levels of gameing badassery that makes mortals like me feel bad about my skills.

Not really, If anyone MIGHT have any chance whit WoW, it would be Darkfall, remember it promises alot, even tho animations are dodgy and crap, it's still a very inovative game. Now we just gotta hope it won't suck, but I dissagree whit you, I don't think Guild Wars will ever have a chance at beating WoW, unless everything in it is "original", or it could at least introduce something new and exciting. AoC sucked, but it did have the cool combat sistem, War is doing decent, the game introduced Open quests and RvR. So, if Guild Wars is to have a chance, it has to come up whit something inovative too

No chance whatsoever. Millions of people aren't suddenly going to shift their focus for the past few months/years.

If there still isn't a jump, I'm not going to touch it. That's the only thing keeping me from falling asleep at times is the ability to spam the space bar and watch my character flail about.
