Why, WHY have people not mentioned Bioshock? With 1 & 2 combined they have some of the most iconic songs ever created:




Not to mention the original score done by Gary Schyman. I have the 19` vinyl from Bioshock 2 collector's edition with the score on it and I have to say, playing it makes me feel like a fellow Rapture citizen.

I didn't think Days of Ruin was as good as Dual Strike, but gotta admit the soundtrack, especially for a DS game, was fantastic.

There are so many people here that I want to quote because I agree with their selection, but it would be too spammy to quote half of this thread, lol. I'll just quote this one because few people understand how win the Advance Wars games are.
I didn't like Dual Strike as much as Days of Ruin, but that would probably be because I bought Dual Strike used, a few years after it was released. I saw it in the bin and was "teh fuq? An Advance Wars game I have not played?" and have yet to beat it =X

Probably because there aren't that many Playstation users on Escapist? I've seen the game and it looks fun, but I don't have a PS3, so I'm SOL.

Final Fantasy.

Whatever else you say about the Final Fantasy series (even as a fan FFX put me off almost entirely) they have always had good music. Nobuo Uematsu is an incredibly gifted composer.

Early exampels would include Tomb Raider and MGS for me. The soundtrack of MGS is pitched very very well, and I say that as someone who has tried to compose music for his own videogame efforts. Almost every tune is perfectly suited to the moment when it is played in order to draw you in without you even realising. And that alert music still makes me dive for cover every time I hear it. As for Tomb Raider, the melody is so simple yet so distinctive that whenever anyone asks me about videogame music I can hum it on cue for them.
