Viewing "GotY" as a distinction rather than a subtle sale booster, shouldn't that be the case?Ultratwinkie said:If that was the case the only GOTYs for the entire span of 2010 would be RDR, ME2, and one unknown game.Koroviev said:This is what I'm wondering. I'm not sure how a game earns the "right" to a GotY edition. Do the publishers just look for some publication's endorsement? Do they need only one?AstylahAthrys said:Was New Vegas anyone's game of the year? If it wasn't, can they release a GotY edition?
Then explain to me why it should be called Game of the Year edition. Just because? Thats basically the only reason they stick Game of the Year edition on any game now. Whats going on here is a marketing ploy, unlike previous Elder Scroll games and Fallout 3 that actually won. Im sorry but you can throw numbers at me all you want but I've played the game through twice (and reviewers dont get nearly that much time to play a game before writing a reviewing), and theres no way it deserves a GoTY.Ultratwinkie said:All of the GOTYs where snatched by Mass Effect 2 or RDR. New Vegas wasn't really AAA. It was a middle game. A rare kind of game today.Echo136 said:Aggrigate scores mean nothing in the end, because it doesnt way certain factors like whether the game was a 20 low budget project/downloadable title or a AAA high budget production. Also, unlike all other Bethesda sandbox games with running on the Gamebryo engine, New Vegas never actually won a Game of the Year award.
I have no opinion on the game (I'm still working on Fallout 3), but this was the first thing that popped into my mind too lol...AstylahAthrys said:Was New Vegas anyone's game of the year? If it wasn't, can they release a GotY edition?
It was mine.AstylahAthrys said:Was New Vegas anyone's game of the year? If it wasn't, can they release a GotY edition?
No, i blame them for the piece of crap that was Fallout 3. This is probably just so that they can bleed some more money out of the game, since it did not launch without a hitch. I heard some news about a lawsuit with interplay or something. That would be more noteworthy than a game of the year edition of basically an expansion pack.sushkis2 said:Lol, ppl! Dont blame Bethesda game studios
