What could be unofficial about it?
It could be considered "unofficial" if the publisher of the games' marketing team didn't approve or have anything to do with it.

Hmm... Where can I get the first?
I would like to ask the same thing. I've been looking everywhere for the game (or anything American McGee, for that matter) and haven't found it.

Where can I get it?
Most old EA games are hard to find. The only copies available of "Alice" are hard copies that usually sell over a hundred bucks off Amazon, last time I checked. The jewel case [http://www.amazon.com/American-McGees-Alice-Jewel-Case-Pc/dp/B00006G9SB/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1257259538&sr=8-2] is the cheapest I seen on amazon and the original game in box [http://www.amazon.com/American-McGees-Alice-Pc/dp/B00004UE0V/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1257259538&sr=8-1] is almost two hundred dollars.

From what I heard, EA doesn't want to release any of their games as digital download--even old ones like "Alice" or "System Shock 2". I'm lucky to got my copy of Alice for $20 USD from Wal-Mart years ago, though I'm having a difficult time tailing down a good price for "System Shock 2".

AG's Alice; a perfect way of saying "NO, Alice in Wonderland was not a complete happytime fairy tale. Did you actually READ IT?"
I ironically just started playing the original. Combat is kinda mediocre, at least with the first few weapons. Very unusual atmosphere, but this trailer is just what I was hoping for since the one problem I'm getting while playing is that the original aged like soda, not wine.

I see.

Well EA, you forced my hand. *puts on eyepatch*.

Full sail.

I'm not quite sure what exactly it is about Alice in Wonderland that pings the creativity of others, but sometimes we do get some awesome stuff out of it.
Possibly owing to the story that Alice in Wonderland was a story told on improvisation to a girl called Alice, on a single boat journey, the basis for the works having to pull a huge ammount of imagination on the fly to keep a young girl amused (which makes sense since its disjointed).

Or it could be that everyone in the story is a junkie and some people believe the use of certain drugs promotes creativity, I'm not saying McGee was stoned when he thought up the terrifying* version of Lewis Carols anthropomorphic cat, but it would explain alot!.

*i'm not a pansy, but that Skeletal Cat with that distinct smile is a scary vision.

First time I heard they are going to make a sequel to that game.

Didn't Alice snap out of her psychological trauma when she killed the red queen? They showed her leaving the asylum as well at the end. I'm thinking they had to come up with some "dick move" to justify a sequel.

Looks alright so far. Maybe it will be just as fun as the original?
Yes and No.

the red queen and Alice are connected, Red Queen goes mad and so does Alice, killing her could symbolise Alice overcoming the madness, but the Queen of Hearts could also symbolise Alice's psyche as a whole, therefore cannot be killed.

Well...

Yet the Red Queen would have to be disabled somehow when Alice defeated her. I think it's kind of like the critic boss in "Psychonauts" that was holding back the opera singer's muse. He didn't "die" from the opera singer's mind, but was reduced to something less than a mere annoyance.

Whether the Red queen was killed or not, it showed quite well in the end of the first game that Alice--along with wonderland--was restored with the Red queen being killed or "put back in her place". Of course the game is still in early production and maybe there is some good "excuse" to explain why Alice is still at the Asylum. However, this still seems like a "dick move" to me.

erm, thats not a dick move.

Making the game shit on purpose would be a dick move, making a sequel that doesn't live up to the original isn't a dick move.

Making a sequel that is good would be great, making a sequel that is great would be an orgasm.

I don't think you understand what a dick move is.

Hardly creepy, looked cool though. I vaguely recall the first one, I never got far in it because of PC problems but it was fun from what I recall...hmm...To youtube!

Maybe I don't know what a "dick move" is (I'm just basing it off what I know from Yahtzee videos). My impression is that it's some function to the player, object or event in a game that is of extreme annoyance or frustration. Like Yahtzee referring to the doors in Braid that could break keys.

The new "Alice" game is still early to call whether it is good or not, and even then that is a matter of opinion to individuals than a scientific "process" to define. Still...

With my impression of what a "dick move" means, it could be justified as this sequel could say that all the actions done in the original was pointless if Alice was just going to end up back in the twisted (albeit fun) Wonderland.

It's like the ending for "Dead Space" where the protagonist appears to survive but ends up (possibly) dead at the zombie-like hands of the woman he cannot get out of his head. What was the point of playing the game when the protagonist is just meant to end up (possibly) dead?

Off-Topic: I just had the thought of how EA pulls a lot of "dick moves" from this post. o_O

I really have to hunt down the first game now. My brother had a poster for this game in his room for the longest time but neither of us had ever played it. That was a badass poster though, so I've always wanted to. Hopefully some copies of the original will resurface so that I can play it before the sequel comes out.
