Nope.

Fatal Frame takes that prize, by a long shot.
Fatal Frame didn't scare me as much actually.
I Only played number 2, and there were moments were I was feeling suspensed, and waiting for something sart, which happened twice, But it really was incompareable to Amnesia for me. Had better atmosphere

Fun isn't it? :p

I did a livestream to my friends so they could watch me play. The results were hilarious.

I think it's scary... Although I can't play Dead Space for more than 15 minutes at a time >.>

I won't let my husband play it in the same room as me.

I'm jumpy enough as it is without freaky noises and disappearing/reappearing baddies.

So has anyone tried fighting? Maybe beating a monster to death with a chair or something?
Yeah, nothing happens. It's as if you're hitting the wall, then you die.

I think I'm partly immune to scary games or movies by now. Amnesia was good and scary but not that frightning to me (never screamed, never stopped playing, finished it in one go during the night). Dead Space bored me.

The Silent Hill series was good if you get into it. The scary part about this is when I'm done with the game, saying that it could have been creepier, I imagine my own scenarios in my own house. Then, I get scared. My imagination is a horrid place to be.

To be honest I think Fatal frame, specifically 2, got me the most. While Amnesia had it's moments, I could still sit through them without getting jittery. after about 20 minutes to half an hour of fatal frame my friends and I had to shut it off because we began jumping at the slightest sounds we heard.

Hell the people who weren't even playing were screaming near the end of our game session. That's a pretty good game when it scares the people who aren't even playing it.

Scariest game ever, I can't really say. However, it's damn sure the scariest game I've ever played.

I haven't played it, but considering watching Let's Plays of it scared me I'd say so.

Yes, I do believe it is.

It is significantly scarier than Silent Hill 2 or Fatal Frame 2. And it shits all over the likes of F.E.A.R., Dead Space or Condemned.

Amnesia is in a league all of its own.

Fatal Frame's graphics were hilarious, they tried so hard to be scary but fell flat on it's face! It's a Japanese Horror Game, and like their movies, are so damn FUNNY!

Fatal Frame was funny, Amnesia was horrifying.

The fact that there's no combat means that there's always an escape. The fact that there's always an escape means that nothing is a threat. The fact that nothing is a threat means that nothing is scary.

Rule of Rose is scary.
Always an escape? You mustn't of got very far my friend...
Getting trapped in a room with one of those things is instant death.
A brute can one hit you.
If they see your run into a room, you're dead.
And I could go on, but you could go on their Wikipedia or actually play the game.

See the pattern?

On a side note, Rule of Rose was laughable, another crappy Japanese horror that is only scary because you and all your friends think Japanese have the "Scariest" look on the genre, when in reality are extremely funny and impossible to take seriously.

Seriously you get a companion and the ability to fight back, which makes me feel safe, second to having my mummy tuck me in with a warm blanky.

And it was so BORING a didn't even bother to play it for longer than twenty minutes.

Sorry to piss on your parade, old chap.

If there's anything worse than stupid people, it's smug stupid people.
I'm smug if I decided to not play a terrible game!?

If you can't captivate your audience and YOU actually force them off a game early on, you're doing it wrong.

I guess Rule of Rose didn't have enough explosions and giant insects jumping out at you screaming "boogidy boogidy boogidy" for your taste. You might want to keep in mind that subtlety is something that some people enjoy. I bet you thought Dead Space was scary, too. Not saying that Dead Space is a bad game, mind, it just isn't scary. At all.
There is a difference for being an action freak and being generally bored of a game.

I love Amnesia, it did it well, Rule of Rose did not, in my opinion, for some reason Japanese video games and movies have never done it for me, I find them funny rather than scary.

P.S: I agree, Dead Space wasn't scary, for some reason being able to blow the "Abloogy Woogy Woos" to smithereens and paint the wall with a new color I like to call "Hint of Brain" (Blackadder Reference", seems to take the fear-factor away.

I would rather say Frictional is the best horror game Dev, rather then Amnesia, their latest prodigy being the scariest game in existence.
The original Project zero *fatal frame* takes the title from Amnesia itself, but the more recent fatal frames have not been as good compared to Frictional's 3 hits out of four.
