EA probably needs to shift its MoH release dates to early spring, should it continue to use the franchise. CoD owns the "twitch shooter" movement and there's almost always one sci-fi shooter (Halo, Killzone, etc.) to compete with as well.

Also... Linkin Park, what happened to you? You used to be cool.
You probably just got less angsty.

OT: So far MoH decidedly failed to distinguish itself from its competition. Doing exactly the same thing as CoD is not the way to dislodge it from the top spot.

Here's to hoping they actually realise that, and stop churning out an endless procession of gung-ho dudebro 'splosionfests.

Not holding my breath on that.

Warfighter is EA's black ops, while Battlefeild is EA's Mondern Warfare. Same pattern, they build a new engine for the prime(battlefeild) then pass it off to another team to quickly make another game(MOH). Copying tactics is common in any industry just in this case it ain't working unless this game turns out any good EA may be weeping like a child in the corner.

Lesson: try and sometimes be original, if this is a COD clone then hopefully it failing will send the message.

Personally I wanted this to be good. I really love DICE's Battlefeild over all that COD meh'ness and hoped for a good sister game to Battlefeild. I am pretty certain i'll be disapointed.

My big issue with this game, which, by the way, I know absolutely nothing about, is the adverts. They're all "YOUR OWN 2 MAN FIRETEAM". Which is just ridiculous, because a fireteam is 4 men.

I mean, they could just have said "Team", and that'd be fine and dandy, no one can complain about that. But they've misused a word, that has an actual meaning that's not what they think it is, and that just makes me [sic].

Next week, I'm going to complain about people who say "Differentiate" to sound smart, when they should say "Differ".

I think EA is kinda going for the death by a thousand cuts route.

Really at this point I kind of feel sorry for them. Every year they try so hard to out sell COD with clone after clone completely blind to the reason why they don't succeed. Then I remember EA aren't the plucky underdogs and must waste millions on these games every year, then I laugh.

I agree the last game was pretty good, especially the campaign. The title was just "Medal of Honor" wasn't it? That's what my box says at any rate.
Yeah, exactly why the title sucked, made me think of the real first MoH, the WW2 one. The campaign was good, the multiplayer was pretty meh, but a prologue to BF3.

Firms like this are completely irrelevant. The ability for "experts" to "predict" is severely limited. That said, they are only parroting what a lot of people think already. No experts necessary to know that EA's clone of CoD is going to be received as thus. And within such proximity to the newest iteration of CoD will of course affect sales. They are also wrongly reinforcing the terrible practice of only caring about the first few months a game is out.

I would say it would take at least five or more major game failures, meaning games that cost them tens of millions or more and then sold far less then half the money needed to compensate the loss from making the game.

If EA did fall, I seriously hope that another company takes BioWare from the ashes or BioWare somehow stands on its on, because unlike the mouth frothing people that have liked trying to rip them a new one, I like most everything BioWare has done of late. I loved Dragon Age 2, and the problem with the ending of Mass Effect 3 was a small potatoes problem, not enough to ruin the previous 150 hours or so of my first play-through of the trilogy.

EA tends to say stupid things, but I haven't had problems with their games or games they publish.

You don't need to be an analyst to see that people are getting tired of EA, tired of DLC and tired of modern military shooters. Even Activision is trying something a bit different with their futuristic CoD setting this time around. And they're making Elite free. It's not gonna make me buy the next CoD, but at least they're trying.

Oh wow.
I didn't know Captain obvious was now working as an Analyst predicting game sales.

Is there anybody out there who really wants to have this game?
Like at all?

EDIT:
I liked Allied Assault back in the days, but nowadays? A shadow of itself :(

I don't understand why EA even bothered with this game. Aren't they the publisher of Battlefield. You know, a game that actually has a chance at competing with Call of Duty. It seems really strange that they're pushing (or, rather, failing to push) another first-person shooter set in the modern day. I know they love their money, but after the last MOH game flopped like it did, you think they'd have smartened up.
They did try to get Battlefield to compete with Call Of Duty. They actually spent hundreds of millions of dollars on marketing to try and grab the top spot from Activision. The game ended up selling something like 10 million copies, which is great, but nowhere near Call Of Duty. And I doubt enough to offset their ludicrous development and marketing budget.
10 million in its lifetime maybe, but I think at launch it sold around 2-3 million. Or maybe I'm thinking of the Medal of Honor reboot. Or maybe they both sold that amount.

Either way, didn't sell that well. Well, compared to Call of Duty, but nothing sells well compared to Call of Duty.

I also predict that it will be outsold, much like everything else, by CoDBlops 2 (so, is the new zombies mode like Left 4 DEad or what? Seriously I want an explanation.).
Okay, this is based on what we know.

There is three modes this time around:

TranZit
Survival (standard Nazi Zombies)
and 4z4 (Grief).

TeanZit:

-At least five locations are located in the world: A bus stop, diner, farm, an industrial type of area, and a town. Each one appears to escalate in difficulty as the player traverses across the world.
-A method of transportation, the upgradeable Bus. Zombies can latch onto it while it is in motion, and players can climb up to its roof or fight inside the bus to defend it.
-Four all new playable characters.
-Some previous Perk-a-Colas will make a return, such as Speed Cola.
-The girl that was first seen on the teaser poster of Black Ops II appears as a playable character.
-A new type of zombie, the Electrical Zombie.
-Power ups will return, such as Max Ammo.
-Buildables, a new system that allows players to build objects from individual items in the world. Currently, the only confirmed one is the Assault Shield.

http://callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/TranZit

Survival: Same as it has always been.

4z4: Where matches of two to eight players in various team-sizes try to outlast each other in the zombie outbreak. The teams cannot directly harm one another but they can still hinder each other by blocking the enemy team's way or luring zombies towards them.

Compared to previous games such as Blops and World at War, with the Nuketown Zombies DLC map, there is 6 maps compared to the normal 1 or 2.

To be fair, Black Ops 2 this time is doing a lot more changes and more innovations then MW3 ever did.

Ooooh now they want to "predict" disasters

They should have "predicted" Mass Effect's 3 ending.
Well, actually...

This same analyst predicted that ME3 wouldn't be as successful as 2 (which was correct, it sold roughly a half-million units less), and he predicted that EA's stocks would take a hit in their Q2 earnings report (which was also correct).

Insofar as the game itself, I don't have much hope for it. The campaign in the first reboot was lackluster, and aside from a handful of good moments (the siege when you're waiting for your backup to arrive at that Afghan mountainside), it was forgettable.

This is called market saturation. There are too many of these samey shooters that a new name doesn't stand much of a chance.

I only need one of these shooters, the one I think will be the most fun. In this current case, that was Battlefield 3 due to a diversity in gameplay styles. I can get my points without ever having to fire a gun.

Anything even remotely related to Linkin Park is utter crap.

But seriously...why is EA even trying with shooters anymore? They've got Battlefield and Medal of Honor, NEITHER stand a chance against the assembly-line production of a bland shooter that's guarenteed to beat the crap out of theirs in sales. Were I working at EA, knowing that CoD is an unstoppable force that I could never hope to compete with despite the fact that a lot of people are growing sick of them would make me horrendously depressed.
