Maybe because it was kind of underground and not well known
Or they couldn't tell that what they were looking at were supposed to be breasts?

There was this other game, a japanese one, that was about saving the world by killing god and in the end people preached how great life was since god was dead. i can't remeber the game though but it slid pass the radar too. Just food for thought. Oh and another thing, what about pokemon. That is animal abuse right there.

Even better, I walk into the Temple of Dibella (Goddess of Beauty) and wouldn't you know it, EVER GIRL... AND GUY... WAS NAKED. All the girls permanently had their back to me, but every time they looked back at me and winked, their breasts did physically impossible things...

Now, while I understand that the pixels are large enough that they couldn't (or just didn't try to) define male or female genitalia, did I miss some controversy? I mean, they basically depicted STRIPPING CHURCHES. They just let that slide?
If you read up on some of the material in game(other Elderscrolls) and out, you'd know that naked people in the church of Dibella, is only the part of her lore. I remember reading some in game book that makes vauge mention that orgies are a common part of Dibella's religious gatherings. They could've gone much further than what they did.

The best way to think of Controversy is not as a phenomenon, but rather as an animal. A giant great animal with absolutely no brain. Think on that for a while, and everything starts falling into place.

Speaking of the whole killing God thing (which Nietzsche beat everybody to by a hundred or so years), I've never really understood why no one in the media caught wind of the Preacher comics. Which is essentially about an ex preacher, his ex girlfriend and a vampire hunting down God cuz he's such a prick.

Because all comics are the ones in the papers, about a cat who like Italian food and such' or Superman and lois lane. [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PublicMediumIgnorance]

Not really, though, that's just how my teacher sad it was.

Well, if I posted a screenshot, I'd get banned, so that's probably not the problem.

I'm glad I'll probably be long dead before Calvin n Hobbes is up to public domain and some asshole decides to give us a live action holiday movie starring some child actor douche and a CG tiger (voiced by some future version of Jim Carey or Mike Meyers).

It was a computer game in hte 90s.

Computer Games in the 90s (PC games) were for adults.

Nudity has only ever really been an issue in Console games.

My advice is to watch AVGN, specifically, the Movie section under his site. You'd be surprised at a tad many things then, and maybe it will help explain why the games back then were the non wiser.

Why it wasn't controversial: IDK.

"How was this not controversial": There was a scene in Red Dead Redemption where you walk in to see the Mexican Revolutionary leader (name escapes me for the moment) having sex with a random woman. I must say, it was awkward when my cousin walked into my room right at the worst possible moment during that scene, and asked "WTF IS THIS?". Perhaps it's because it caused a small issue for me, but how did this not get noticed?

I've often thought how surprising it was that Borderlands didn't draw more ire from certain communities over their portrayal of the "Midget" class enemies.

Maybe it did cause a ruckus and I was too busy playing it to notice, though.

Don't worry about that... The cartoonist Bill Watterson fought for six years in court to ensure that it never happens.

This was 1996... Doesn't seem like the most forgiving decade for this kind of thing.
The fact that it was made in 1996 was gonna be my argument for why it wasn't controversial. Nobody cared what was in PC games back then.

Well, if I remember correctly that whole stink with the blood in Mortal Kombat on the Sega Genesis took place before 1996. Remember, the SNES version had no blood and the Gen version did.

1996 is when the N64 came out so I am guessing all that stuff was happening in 1994 or 1995, during the 16 bit era. That's also when the ESRB was created.

So yeah, they were on that "video games are bad for kids" kick well before 1996. Probably didn't affect PC games though.
Yeah, but... why?
I dunno, ask the ESRB.
I meant "Why didn't it affect PC games".
Probably because during the 80's and 90's consoles were seen as being 'childrens' entertainment, while PC's were seen as targeting an adult audience. I sure didn't know of any grown ups who played Nintendo when I was a kid unless one of their kids dragged them into playing Luigi in Mario Bros. or something.
