Whilst watching compilations of gamers raging on youtube for my own amusement. A thought came to mind.

I hate angry gamers, i mean, fucking deteste them, and i didn't realise until right now. Now let me clear up, we all got angry at games some time, wether it's an impossible mission we're stuck on, or getting killed in an unfair way in multiplayer, but when that happens, i usually keep the rage to myself and, like, not embarrass myself to others around me or online. I am talking about the contrary.

Angry gamers that physically rage whenever something unfortunate happens in-game has iritated me since childhood, since i had to live with one of them. My brother would always go into massive hormonal tantrums on me because i scored against him in fifa or killed him in action games etc. Are they really gamers? Why do people get angry so easily at games that they spent money on? Anyway thats my rant over. What are your opinions on angry gamers?

Well, personally, I can only judge "angry gamers" [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/538.361147-So-very-angry] so much...

For myself, it wasn't the game that was making me angry, it was the losing. I feel like I've gotten much better about it but there is still always that little Hulk switch in the back of my mind when I'm just getting throttled that wants to get flicked on.

I always thought that everyone has one of these switches, just that it flicks on for different people for different reasons. For myself, the embarrassment of being a loser (and probably some deep physiological scars but I don't think we need to get into "Therapist hour" here :) is what can flick my switch and make Hulk smash.

I don't usually get mad that games. Most of the time, I'm usually calm. However, when I am presented with a difficult puzzle or faced with a complicated situation in a video game, I will usually try to complete it, but if I don't get it then I may get a bit frustrated and just play something else instead.

I never rage publicly in multiplayer games. In my opinion, raging (to be more specific, raging openly) makes you look a bit childish.

I don't really mind people getting a bit angry at games, but when s/he starts raging at others ("omg noob team" comes to mind) then I couldn't care less about them, really.

I don't mind angry gamers. I just mind the obnoxious, loud kind you find in multiplayer sometimes. It's really uncool to acted like an asshole if you're angry. Keep it to yourself.

rant videos (comedic or otherwise) are still okay though.

I like sending this message to angry gamers for epic rage responses:

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little *****? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.
The responses are quite entertaining.

If something frustrates me enough, I might call my television a ************ and stamp my foot. I've never really got too upset in a multiplayer game, though. Probably because I rarely ever play them.

Trained in gorilla warfare, heh, epic.

OP: If I'm stuck I will swear out loud, but I am normally alone then. I have never lost my temper when playing with friends as I don't have a particularly competitive nature. That's probably why I'm not so into multiplayer and such. I can't be asked. And I wouldn't want to pay with someone if I knew they lost their temper easily. I do not find that particularly entertaining. You can't handle a loss? Might as well play on your own then.

well, I'd love to spare those poor birds and rather flick gamers against walls and rocks and pigs but I guess we play with the cards we're dealt.

If someone is a massive prick (and throwing tantrums is a pretty suretell sign that the person is a prick), stop playing with them. No begging or (and that's more probable) provocation should change your opinion. Let them rage alone.

I get pretty angry at games sometimes. I don't mind if I'm in the middle of the scoreboard. But holy crap, I hate the bottom. I'm pretty competitive and a sore loser like that. Don't worry though, I usually keep it to myself. But then, I do get angry pretty often IRL too even if I don't show it.

I rage very very very very seldom and when I do I usually just mumble some stuff or make some random air swings with my fists. But not too long ago I scored 3 goals in 15 minutes in fifa and my friend threw his controller into the wall and it went into pieces... I have a few angry gamer friends and a few calm ones. Don't understand it but people react differently, what can I do about it? laugh of course xD

I have found that I only show real anger when gaming when I am the only one in the room. If there are other people in the room with me while I'm gaming I may get frustrated, but never angry. However, when I'm playing a sports video game and I'm the only one in the room, I will explode sometimes if I screw up.

There are only two things in this world that I can really get angry at and those are sports and video games, so when you combine the two, I can get pretty mad.

While I also hate the rage filled psychos that freakout start breaking stuff and scream at the television because they suck at online, I can't deny that I will start swearing pretty aggressively when a game is being cheap, or I'm lagging badly.

And when I get guys berating me online I like too either with sarcastic messages, or troll them in-game

Damn you, OP; I thought you were suggesting an idea for a game, involving catapulting gamer after gamer towards a flimsily build house, with games boxes for bricks and a cackling EA employee in the centre. I want this game! How much more meta can you get?

This is usually the case for me. Unfortunately, I'm one of those ubiquitous 'angry gamers', though more often than not, if I get angry, its due to me dying, getting in a bad position, or screwing up... Due to my own stupidity. The fact that I know better more often than not infuriates me even more.

Now yes, sometimes I'll end up getting angry at another person in Multiplayer, like the guy decimating our team with an M26 DART, or the helicopter that's just too damn tenacious to either leave me alone, or stay long enough to die. But, at least with the first example, I feel that my anger is justified, due to the balancing on that damn thing being absolutely broken.

But, more often than not nowadays, my anger is due to my own damn fault. In a way, that kind of makes it worse.
