So I was just reading a thread about Cowboy Bebop and it got me thinking which anime would you like to see in a live action film.

Note: Please don't talk about the Dragonball film, yes I know it was bad but that doesn't mean any other future live action anime films would be the same.

Note 2: Please don't say none of them, try and think of one that you actually think would have some sort of entertainment value.

I would like to see a Black Lagoon film.

Does anyone else think that Samuel L Jackson would make a good Dutch.

Hmm, a Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni live action would be awesome
Other than that I'm not too sure

Isn't the whole reason people like Anime down to the art style?

The writing is no better than Western stuff, nor is the voice acting - the only difference is art style...

Why get rid of the one thing it's got going for it...?

I can't think of any Anime that could be made better by being a live-action film
but if I had to sentence one to death... wait... I've got something on my anime blacklist...
Ikki Tousen. I was told by someone(s) here never to watch it. so I suppose it can't be made worse/better by a live-action film.

Don't know if it would be any good though :p
Although I am interested in watching the Death Note live action movie that is in blockbuster at the moment...

None. Because the directors of the live action movie are sure to mess it up completely.

I beleive there are currently 2 Live-action Higurashi films.
It talks about them at the end of one of the episodes in Kai...
But on wiki it has 2 listed. in the crappy way that mentions no names for the films or any links.

Ouran anyone? Though if the actors dont have the right charms, it would suck. The characters would be more important than the plot in that case I feel.

As one of my fave animes, It'd be an interesting thought to have Black Lagoon come alive, but I agree with:

The only anime to live action films I've seen are Initial D and Dragonball Evolution. Initial D was crappy and Evolution is the second worst film I can think of, after Legend of Chun Li. So I'd rather something as good as Black Lagoon be left alone.

As for Samuel L. Jackson playing Dutch, he wouldn't be my first choice. He has too much of a loud personality (imo) and I don't think he could carry the Dutch look very well. Maybe the dude who played Balrog in The legend of Chun Li ^^.

Hm, I think Claymore wouldn't be too bad. But Berzerk would be hilarious if it was dne in live action I think. and probably not in a good way.

I think this is a good point. You'd need a brilliant team of filmmakers to make a good anime film, because it should have already reached the peak of its visuals and storytelling in the animated stage anyway. What could live action add except a gimmick?

I would like to see an Outlaw Star film yet I have no idea how to do it nor any idea who to cast. But if it came out, I'm sure I'd buy a ticker anyway

I would not really want a live action make of any anime I have already seen because they would never be able to cast it correctly in my eyes. No matter who they chose or how good the team I think they'd never be able to live up to expectations.

I thought it was better than the Anime to be honest. Although that's mainly because of how bloody long the Anime was. They should have ended it around the time
L Died.
as it all went downhill from there.

I half agree. Yes, the art style is one of the good things, but so are the stories. There is an incredible amount of variety, whereas most Western stuff tends to be very similar. I know there is also a lot of similar Anime but the sheer amount of shows there are in comparison to Western TV makes it not matter.

Absolutely not, I generally find the anime art style overly generic at the best of times. As for the writing I'd agree with you for the most part, but there are some shining examples of well written anime out there.

If done right, Cowboy Bebop could make an amazing transition into live action, especially given that its subject matter is already westernised. Akira is another one, and I'm pretty sure that's already in the works.

The only way a live action anime movie would work is if there were absolutly NO western influences on the project aside from possibly funding and resourses.

I personally like anime because in (most) cases the creators plan out the end with a foreseeable end in the near future. With American shows, they just drag it on until it gets so bad people stop watching it and it gets canceled.
