I am currently "out" of anime to watch. I use "out" as if i find i'm really in need of one i'll just go onto a big list website and pick one at random, but some suggestions would be appreciated.

Some examples of anime i have liked:

Full Metal Panic
One Piece
Skip Beat
Trigun
Naruto/Bleach
Gintama
Perfect Woman (something like that. "The Wallflower" i think it was also called.

Disliked:
Ragnarok - Just plain dull tbh.
NeoGenesisEvangelion, I honestly found this anime to be quite "slow going" and built up to an ending that never really took place (just mindscrew territory).
Hellsing

I'll watch more or less any anime with a decent storyline, i don't require lots of swordfighting (or any tbh), and comedy is always a bonus. Also if we could keep the ecchiness under control that would be nice ;) I'll set "Elfen Lied" as the benchmark maximum for ecchiness.

So yeah, if you could actually consider what i might like instead of just jotting off your top 1-5 anime, i would appreciate that. A brief description wouldn't hurt either :)

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Added Hellsing to dislikes.

Try:
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni,
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai (2nd. I'm watching this one At This Very Moment),
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei (3rd. I Haven't seen yet)

Edit: Oh yeah, watch it with subs, apparently the dubbing is really bad for it.
I think the dubbed version wouldn't convey the emotions from the voices...

I'll get back to you with other suggestions.

I'd use the search bar and check out some of the threads we've done on this before. Just because there were a load of good suggestions before, and maybe you'll find something that interests you outside your comfort zone.

Seen it, bit slow towards the middle in my opinion, but a fantastic ending. I figure i'll watch FMA: Brotherhood once it's finished, as that apparently follows the manga a lot more accurately than the original anime did.

Well you really can't tell us not to list off a top 5 anime for you. But I'll try not to(it won't be 5 or a top just a list)

.Hack(any of them really besides Liminality)
Azumanga Daioh
Case Closed
Death Note
Final Approach
FLCL
Girl Meets Girl(It's not a hentai trust me, you jsut see one male alien butt)
FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Girls Bravo(Ecchi)
Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun(Ecchi)
GTO
Love Hina(Has hot bath scenes but it's not that bad)
Makai Senki Disgaea
Negima Neo! (or Negima Second Season or Negima?!)
Please Teacher/Twins
Ranma 1/2(First few episodes has full on breast exposure but it makes since if you know the story)
School Rumble
Soul Eater
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
To Love Ru(ecchi)
Zero no Tsukaima(ecchi I guess but it's not really bad)

And comedy is a major factor in a anime for me, and I never saw Elfen Land so I just put ecchi next to the ecchi ones

I'm aware there are lots of anime threads before (lots!), but i decided to make my own as a) i was HOPING that i might get some specific and considered suggestions instead of just peoples own personal favourites reeled off. I mean, i've seen ones where they specifiy it had to have very little/no action and plenty or romance, and people are suggesting bleach/naruto. While very good anime, it's hardly fitting what was requested.

Second was as mentioned previously, most of the threads do just consist or a large list of peoples favourite anime's, without any reasons why they are good/info about the anime, and tbh, if i wanted a list of anime, i could just google it. Granted if lots of people state an anime is good then it is a decent indication, but 50% are bleach, naruto, one piece and death note.

Perhaps it was pointless to create the thread, but i figured it couldn't hurt :p

So you like something with good pacing and a blend of story and action.

Cowboy Bebop - Basically about a group of intergalactic bounty hunters. This is a classic series. A spy western set in the future. There is one overarching storyline that they touch on occasionally and then bring to a close at the end of the series but mostly, the series consists of mini-arcs. 1-3 episodes per little arc. It have plenty of humor, great music and well timed action. Most people who loved Trigun, loved Cowboy Bebop

Samurai Champloo - By the same guy who did Cowboy bebop, so you have a great cast, excellent music and more fantastic fight scenes. Only this one is set in the past about a hooligan and a rogue samurai and the girl that hangs out with them. Same sort of setup--1-3 episodes per mini arc and an overarching storyline that they bring to a close at the end.

Gunslinger Girls - A sadder series but a very interesting one about a corporation that turns young girls into efficient, machine-like killers. But this is not a hard core, overly badass representation but focuses much more on the personalities of the girls and how each of them copes with the knowledge of what they are and what will become of them.

Gurren Laggenn (Just give a chance. It may be cracky but it's worth sticking around for.) - This is a mech series with an insane cast of memorable characters. The show seems to take pride in an almost uncanny sense of self-parody. Things you usually see in a mech series--believe in your mech! I believe in you! What we're trying to accomplish is impossible but if we believe--blah, blah, blah!--is overdramatized to the point that it's utterly enjoyable to watch. The point is not to take it too seriously. But it's a humorous, action-packed, crazy series.

Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei - This is a dark comedy. And it's one that's hard to describe. Wikipedia says, "It is a comedy about a teacher who takes all aspects of life, language and culture in the most negative light possible. It satirizes politics, media, and Japanese society." I guess that's pretty much it. It's dark, satirical and very funny.

Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo - Is a retelling of the original story. But it is set far into the future. The art was the big draw for this series, I thought. The pacing is wonderful and is, of course, a story about revenge. But the art is beautiful. Of course it doesn't follow the original story completely--but it does a fantastic job of making the story its own.

Ghost Hunt- pretty short. has some funny moments and can it very creepy at points. But at a mild sense I guess.
Code Geass- I'm still watching it. I'm at episode 9 on Youtube but it's getting really really good! It has an amazing compelling story.

Both of these are both worth watching the first episode. If you like em then I highly recommend to keep watching.

I saw the hellsing series and hated it personally. Cowboy Bebop i've seen half of, i suppose i should really finish it.

I might look into Code Geass, Death note i saw the first episode and it didn't especially inspire me if i'm being honest.

Thank you historybuff for your suggestions, i'll definitely look into some of those :)

Well i wasn't suggesting people suggest stuff they thought was terrible :p

Just that they give a bit of consideration to what i said i like. I mean, if your friend wants to go do something and they hate/fear animals, you don't suggest going to the zoo do you?
