So let me get this straight. A group with no actual form or definite organization is falling apart? Sounds to me like some of them just realized that they don't want to be a part of a group of assholes and pedophiles.
think your confusing Anon with 4chan.
Aren't they the same thing? Just a bunch of annoying assholes and paedophiles!
One is one, the other is the other. :)

I don't see anything about a big press release, I think all this information was acquired through a phone interview that news people tend to hassle people about.

So begins the Great Internet Schism.

So...now we wait for the Internet Crusades?

Can I be the Internet Pope? I wanna be the Pope. Pope Skinny the XXXVIth. That's me!
Can I be Internet Martin Luther then? ...Oh wait, that means I have to write a very long essay... 95 theses, right? Never mind that then.

OT: So does this mean that Anonymous will become several splinter groups that bicker with each other?

loving the trolling but sadly.

AnonOP is actually a tiny part of what anonymous is.

Ryan (the person who has caused this 'civil war') is a 18/19 year old kid, he took a few people with a more militant mind for some opperations with him from anonOP and screwed anonOP's members.

its a tiny sub partion of anonymous, it has been at the spearhead of internet rights indeed, but its not the only site in the anonymous arsenal, theres the chan planning boards for one, then the whyweprotest.net forums which is the major organisation behind chanology, and many more.

To think a journalist distancing himself from anonymous over a little schism between about 30 people has made news at escapist is stupid, where has escapists reports been on all the good anonymous has helped do over the years?

Sorry, I guess that is actually the definition of a press release, but he was making it out like it was a big room with lots of cameras and questions, I don't see answering a few questions as attention whoring.

Just attach a tl;dr version to it and no one will bother reading the whole part.

Can I be internet John Calvin?

OT: Again, I would be more than happy to see anon burn. However, that is unlikely.

Anonymous infighting, and losing press. That may not be good. Now we won't know as much about the inner conflicts! How can we keep updated on our technocratic silhouette overlords if they keep fracturing?

seriously, all this media attention trying to make anon into something it isn't is getting tiresome. It's not some dark activist, hacker hive mind. Its network of nerds trolling one other who occasionally get bored and decide to troll someone together. Its all just a game to them, nothing more.

I'm wondering how much anarchy could spread from an already Anarchic group breaking up into splinter factions?
All trust in The Lord of Change for Anonymous to do what they do. Or something like that.

"I'm tired of the drama," Brown said. "You've got kids fighting for control of an IRC channel. I'm a researcher. I'm into revolutionary stuff...."

I had to take a minute break for some air after this gem. Oh, Internet, how I love thee. The level of lunacy over there is... godlike.

Funny how so many people on the Escapist (Not really funny, its kinda sad for a forum I had some respect for) takes AnonOp as Anon when its is only in itself. But a splinter-group. That craves attention every time some other group of anon takes some kind of action against something. If people leave it, it merely means that there will be less people to talk to the media, of the people who probably arent supposed to even care about the media in the first place.

Call yourself a name, and you can use that name. Go against ideals that name stand for, and you might still call yourself by said name. But you will not have said name because you have gone against the name and the name therefor cannot be yours.

Everyone can say they are in Anonymous. But I think it is only those who participated in the hacking operations and participated in the peacefully organized Protests against Scientology thats truly Anon. The rest are just Media-whores and trolls.

I honestly still respect those who call themself by the name and do what they are supposed to do, the rest of them can go fall into some ditch and stay there with their laptop lurking on 4Chan.

Buttomline. The man didnt QUIT Anonymous and created a Splintergroup. He left a Splintergroup, with members of said Splintergroup, to form a new Splintergroup. Misleading title is misleading.

So Anon is truly now starting to fall apart?

...excellent.

I used to kinda tolerate these guys, but now they're just pissing me off more and more and they need to go.

For a man who claims to report on anons he seems to have failed to grasp anything about it. Drama is the whole point. that and being, you know, anonymous.....

off topic: my captcha is 'Entrails were-tiger' odd....

If that's the whole point, then folks in Anonymous should have far better things to do in their lives than be ABSOLUTE FUCKING MORONS.

When there's people being immature about it (4chan..), they can fuck right off.

The idea of Anonymous when it first started seems to be SOLELY political and going after corrupt and criminal companies/organizations in the U.S. Others, mainly 4chan twats, jumped in and made it all about "lulz", completely losing the ORIGINAL POINT.

I support the original concept of Anonymous. Not the general fuckery it turned became.
